Just Another Bad Day At The Office Is What Looks To Have Caused The Surge

The Surge

A new trailer for The Surge has popped up and this one aims to show us just what caused The Surge that we will be dealing with; at least the aftermath of

Here we go with a better look at The Surge just before the big showcasing that is slated for next week. Well at least a better view at the general story that is being set up here by Deck 13 as this seems to be a bit more of a cinematic trailer than anything that shows off some new gameplay. Seeing as story is an important role in an action-RPG, I guess it is good that The Surge is looking to have a solid one for us to explore and in turn survive. Dystopian futures are some of the worst ones out there and we all may need a bit more training on this as of now so I guess it’s good that it will be here in May for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC for us all to ingest.

As it look, in The Surge we are playing a guy who happens to have had the worst first day of work ever. He’s just going about the normal routine of getting his company mandated exo-suit grafted to his flesh and bones and wouldn’t you know it, a catastrophic event happens and things go insanely wrong from there. Sure he’s a bit stronger and faster but at what cost as now all of the robots and other employees in the build have all gone crazy and are out to end him. That is more or less the gist of what The Surge will have in store for us from the trailer and its subsequent explanation. Although my version sounds a bit more comedic than the seriousness that I am sure the team is going for.

The Surge — Bad Day At The Office

Freshly recruited as an augmented worker at CREO, Warren’s first day coincides with a catastrophic event during the routine surgical operation meant to graft — through flesh and bone — employee exo-suits. This marks the first in a series of brutal events, turning this first day at CREO into a hellish nightmare of robots gone haywire, crazed employees with fried cranial implants, and artificial intelligence who all want Warren dead.

Now equipped with a state-of-the-art exoskeleton, you’ll have to improvise in order to survive — tools manipulated by CREO workers, while not originally meant for combat, make for effective lethal weapons. The equipment pieces compatible with your exo-suit will make you faster, stronger, and sturdier. During battle, target your enemies’ limbs, slice them, and retrieve the attached equipment to improve and power-up your own suit — allowing you to delve deeper in the CREO complex and attempt to put an end to the madness initiated by The Surge.

So far the story for The Surge sounds rather interesting here. The recent gameplay we saw from the alpha build kind of left things a bit more wanting in my book but that is the great part of early gameplay; it can and will hopefully change. May isn’t that far off so that does raise a few concerns out there, but maybe next week we will see a version of The Surge from Deck 13 that will live up to this rather cool story that they are weaving here. A gamer can hope and that is just what I am doing until I see otherwise here. Please don’t show me otherwise though as I still have the hopes for The Surge as of now.

So what do you think about the story of The Surge as it stands right now? Do you think it is an interesting idea or something that you will most likely be passing on? Do you think that we will get to see some gameplay that will redeem what we had before so that we can play this story as I hope the developers wish us to or will it just be about the same? Let us know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss how you wish. As we get more on The Surge we will have it up on the site for you. Be sure to keep checking back in to make sure you are able to keep completely up to date on all of it as it comes.
