Learn What True Horror Is In Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival

Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival

The latest developer diary for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival takes us deeper into the realm of horror and how Hellraiser shaped it

There is no denying the effect that the Hellraiser IP has had on the horror world. It changed things up a bit, added in a new nightmare character for us to freak out over, and spawned a lot of good and bad movies in the mythology. It is also the reason that Boss Team Games and Saber Interactive are getting a new game in the IP on October 8th for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. All with the idea that Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival will be taking the horror of it all just another step further. That is what we are picking up from the latest developer diary that we have, along with some new gameplay and looks at the enemies we will be thrusting chains, hooks, and spikes through. Let us all see just how the horror is made, along with the team.

While there is a bit of fun with the Cenobites that we are getting in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, along with how the development of the game affected the team, the bigger take from this video for the game is that we have two different types of enemies to face off with. Those are the members of the Scarlet Church and the Unworthy. The prior are from a cult of humans who seek out just what the puzzle box and the Cenobites are offering up. The latter are those who have tried to see the sights that were offered, but the Leviathan denied them such pleasures. So, in true Hellraiser fashion, they take up some pretty twisted and gnarly appearances that their mangled flesh can withstand. All of them will be on our chopping block for one reason or another, along with us needing to make it through the trapped mazes in the other realm the Cenobites are from. Have a fun look at all of that horror in the latest developer diary that we now have in our world.

Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival — “Horror” Developer Diary

Horror, the purest form of revelation.

To witness it is to understand what makes mortals tremble.

The beauty is not found in comfort, but in the truth that your suffering unravels.

Horror fans will, of course, be familiar with the Cenobites, the infamous beings of extraordinary power from the Hellraiser films led by Pinhead. Demons to some, angels to others, the Cenobites don’t abide by easy rules of morality, instead driven to push the extreme boundaries of pain and pleasure. But while the Cenobites play a pivotal role in the story, players will have to battle against two other key factions.

The first is the Scarlet Church, a cult led by a charismatic figure named Marlowe. The Church hopes to establish contact with the Cenobites and seeks to use the mysterious Genesis Configuration puzzle box to create a debauched paradise for themselves.

The other group is the Unworthy, once-human wretches who sought after the ultimate experiences of sensation but were denied by Leviathan, ruler of the otherworldly Labyrinth. These rejects of Hell, monsters who think and behave differently from the cultists of the Church, are drawn to the Genesis Configuration as a potential path to redemption.

Have you been a fan of the horror that Hellraiser has brought to the world, and did it also help you learn things about yourself as the team did? Will the game have us ending up in one of the enemy groups by the end, or will we become the next big Cenobite after all the destruction? How twisted will the team actually go in the game, and was there a place that they refused to go with all of this unsettling content they are giving us? Let us hear it all out there in the comment section of the page so we can all discuss the horrors. We are so excited to see more for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival over here, and we are going to make sure you see it all too. Please keep checking all of this out on the website and follow along on all of our social channels to see when we have anything new to share.
