A little over two years ago Sony announced a mobile application for users to be able to check all the ins and outs of their PS3. It was only released in the European market to my knowledge. I’ve looked around and have yet to find anything official in the North American market, but that’s not the point. In the coming month when we get the PlayStation 4, we can also look out for a similar and better mobile application to play with in addition to the console. Everyone rejoice?
So what exactly will this application do? Here’s a short list of what this free application will offer.
- Check your trophies
- Compare trophies with friend’s
- View your friend’s activity
- View recorded and live steamed gameplay
- Edit your PSN profile
- Send/respond to PSN messages
- Send invitations for multiplayer games
- Make purchases from the PS Store
- Start downloading purchases to your PS4 remotely
- Have second screen gameplay for enabled titles
Some fun features, but nothing I couldn’t already do with my Vita. If I am able to actually play Watch_Dogs using my phone as Aiden though I will totally be a bit more impressed. Hells, I’ll be impressed once developers start using the PS App to allow for cool gameplay features in their games. Until then though I see this as being just an extension to their website for those who don’t have a PS Vita yet. I could be wrong though, so we’ll see when it hits iOS and Android devices in the coming month.
