The Order: 1886
Ready At Dawn has released their fifth developer’s diary for The Order: 1886 and it details the care that the team took when it came to the game engine
You may be scoffing or guffawing at the title here but in the most recent developer’s diary for The Order: 1886 the team over at Ready At Dawn sure focus in a lot on how much detail they had to put in to make the game’s cloth and materials look and “feel” just right. As if we haven’t already seen it during all of the other gameplay footage and demos it is all pinpointed more here. That is generally the point of these kinds of videos but what is more interesting is to see how the team harnessed more of the PS4’s power to make sure everything was done correctly and the leather looked like leather; or the snozberries tasted like what every they taste like.
Of course this isn’t the only aspect covered for The Order: 1886 here but it is the most acknowledged. The other big thing being the lighting and environmental effects that help bring the game’s world to life. Including a big focus on the fact that fog wasn’t used here like it was in the past, to help render the game, but to actually add that extra spice to make London look as we would expect it to. Well at least all of us who don’t live there know nor have been there on holiday. Some of us have only these things to work with in their day to day lives.
Settle down and have a deeper look at The Order: 1886 now.
The Order: 1886 — Bringing The Game To Life
If that has yet to sell you on picking up The Order: 1886 when it launches on February 20th then we have a bonus video for you to look at here. It is an unboxing of the Collector’s Edition of The Order: 1886 if you can manage to find one still in the wild. Well this version is a bit easier to find as it is the one with just the Galahad statue and not the monster of a statue that is him fighting the elder lycan. It is more expensive so I guess that will be just for those special few who want to take that leap of faith.
