Maneater 2
The next entry to the Maneater IP is on the way, with the recent reveal we just had for Maneater 2
Just when you thought a fun IP was going to be a one-off with a few bits of DLC, we have the official announcement that Maneater 2 is swimming its way out there to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. This would be that amazing little shaRkPG title that Tripwire Interactive gave us all a few years back, and now with the help of Demiurge Studios, we are getting another full entry into the IP. All of the fun that we had in Maneater the first time around swimming as a shark, eating various tourists, doing a bit of parkour, and then fighting so many other things in the sea will be on display again. This time, though, it looks as if our little bull shark will have found their way into a whole different land and with a whole different goal to keep. Not that devouring various humans in the world and causing all manner of chaos was not fun already. This is a true sequel, though, and it does look as if we are going to have to go insanely hard on it all to keep the reality show going for just a little bit longer.
So, we know the basics of the game, and we can see that Maneater 2 has added a few little improvements to make the game a little more exciting, but it looks like the setting is going to be the bigger star in this one. We find ourselves in the depths of Neptune’s Kingdom here, which happens to be a five-star luxury resort. A massive event seems to be going on out there in the world, and we are one hungry bull shark once again. That is where we are going to be swimming around, umping out of the water, and whipping all manner of things at the forces that be. All of this so we can start the evolution process again that we had in the original Maneater. If we are playing as a new version of the shark, or one that has been devolved somehow, that is still yet to be seen. This is just a reveal, and the game is slated to land in 2027, so I am certain we will get all of those answers in due time. We just get to know the game is fully coming, and get a few looks at what will be below. Along with a few hints at the various sea creatures we will face off with, and the voice of Trip Westhaven (voiced by Chris Parnell) narrating the fun once more. I am so insanely excited to see how all of this is going to play out once again.
Maneater 2 — Reveal
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… Developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive and co-development partner Demiurge Studios made a splash during the Sony State of Play with the debut trailer for Maneater 2, announcing that the sequel to the 2020 eat ‘em up sensation and gaming’s first open-world action-RPG starring a shark (shARkPG) is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Since the release of the original Maneater in 2020 and the official DLC, Maneater: Truth Quest in 2021, the Maneater franchise has amassed over 20 million players from across the globe. Now the queen of the sea is back, joined once again by disgraced reality TV host and narrator, Trip Westhaven (voiced by Chris Parnell – Saturday Night Live, Rick and Morty, Archer) to eat, explore, evolve, and escape from Neptune’s Kingdom. Maneater 2 will launch in 2027 and is currently available to Wishlist on applicable platforms.
Maneater 2 takes players to the depths of Neptune’s Kingdom, a five-star, luxury theme park and resort where the splendor and opulence of the Roman Empire lives on… but not for long. Crash an exclusive, invite-only preview event hosting the world’s most followed – and most delicious – influencers and media luminaries. Fascinating evolutions are occurring under the surface as a byproduct of the park’s highly advanced Marine Research efforts to build attractions that push technological, natural – and ethical – boundaries. For the average human, Neptune’s Kingdom is the theme park of their dreams. For the bull shark, it’s a fully realized aquatic sandbox with secrets to uncover, courses and currents to traverse, dangers to overcome, and an all-you-can-eat VIP buffet.
- Eat: Dominate the top of the food chain and gorge on the five-star global cuisine in Neptune’s Kingdom. Feast upon wild-caught delicacies from the bustling marine ecosystem throughout the park grounds, including pufferfish, jumbo crab, piranha, grouper, and more- shall we say… unique offerings. Make sure to try the human; it’s delicious.
- Explore: The open world is the player’s oyster. Take in the monumental architecture, make a killing on a thrill ride, grab a snack at Mojitodal, and discover the secrets lurking in the deep.
- Evolve: Marine research and conservation efforts at Neptune’s Kingdom aren’t just a great corporate tax break; they’re good for other things as well. What if humanity could provide the ecosystem with genetically modified tools to protect itself? With five different genetic modifications under their belt already, the park’s industry-leading bioengineers are pushing the ethical boundaries of science daily.
- Escape: Behind Neptune’s Kingdom’s lavish facade is a disaster waiting to happen. It’s time to tip the scales back in nature’s favor. Mount an attempt to escape this fortress of scientific malpractice and corporate greed – all with the dubious help and one-sided commentary of disgraced reality TV host Trip Westhaven (Chris Parnell).
Did you ever expect to see another title in the Maneater series, or was it truly only a matter of time before we had a new shark to swim around with out there? Do you think that we are going to venture any further away from Neptune’s Kingdom, or will the area be so vast that the map feels as open as we had in the previous game? What do you think will be the reason behind the evolution of the shark here, and will this be a baby from our previous one to explain how and why the mutations are in play once more? Let us discuss all of this and let out all of the thoughts swimming in our heads right now down in the comments. We are going to have all that we can for Maneater 2 as it flows out there. That is for sure. If you want to devour all of it, then you will want to watch the website and all of our social channels to see when that is all ready for you to enjoy. I am ready to hit the seas now, and glad to see that it will be less of a wait than when we had the previously announced title come out to us all.
