Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

The next title in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance line has been announced as we now have Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

In one of the bigger announcements to come out of The Game Awards this year, we now have Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order listed out there and coming. This time coming from Team Ninja, the third developer to handle the franchise directly, and this time published by Nintendo. Which means you already guessed it, this Marvel Ultimate Alliance outing will be exclusively on the Switch. An odd way to go given how all of the past titles in the line have gone, but this is the world we are living in now so we better get used to it all. Maybe it will make some people out there break down and buy this new system so they can continue the fun here.

Platform issues aside, it also looks like this Marvel Ultimate Alliance title will be deviating from the traditional top-down display and going with an over-the-shoulder style camera for us to use. It will still keep its four-player design for when you want to go down that path, thankfully, and will also use a drop-in/out system to make sure your game is never interrupted along the way. At least in terms of going from single-player to multiplayer here. We can at least be happy with all of that here. Just plan on picking up a few more of those controllers if you want to make sure you are playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on the couch with some friends.

The story this time around seems to follow something that the films have been going with to date, but expanding it out to bring in all of the properties that Marvel Ultimate Alliance is known for. Thanos is after those Infinity Stones again and using everything that he can to gain them. It looks like other classic characters from the respective lines will have a few to share and offer up for reasons. Also to make sure that all of the heroes are better grounded in this new universe that sticks to the comic continuity better than the films. It would not be a Marvel Ultimate Alliance game if that was not the case right? Maybe? We will go with that for now as we still take in the exclusivity issues here.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order — Announcement

The Marvel Ultimate Alliance series returns for the first time in 10 years—with a new action RPG—exclusively on the Nintendo Switch system! Assemble your ultimate team of Marvel Super Heroes from a huge cast including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men, and more! Team up with friends to prevent galactic devastation at the hands of the mad cosmic tyrant Thanos and his ruthless warmasters, The Black Order.

In this new storyline, heroes and villains unite in a race across the Marvel Universe to find the Infinity Stones before Thanos and The Black Order use them to unleash cosmic chaos. From Avengers Tower to the X-Mansion and beyond, every stop on the dangerous quest to thwart Thanos results in unexpected collisions of fan-favorite characters and iconic locations.

Get closer to the action by shifting the view to an over-the-shoulder “Heroic Camera” perspective — a series first that offers a more immersive way to play single-player or multiplayer on up to four systems.

Play online, offline via local wireless, or simply pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend, so they can join your team. With another pair of Joy-Con controllers, four players can team up on one system! The drop-in/drop-out co-op possibilities let players create their own “Ultimate Alliance” at will.

Is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order the title you were hoping for when it comes to this line or were you hoping it would be something else? Will this draw you in for a Switch or leave you upset that you have played all of the others and will have to skip this due to exclusiveness? What other characters and lines are you hoping to see added in here for the game or will it just stick to those that are on the big screen, mostly, for now? Let us have all of those thoughts and feelings down in the comments and then discuss. Where there is more for this Marvel Ultimate Alliance, we will share it here. Just be sure to keep coming back to see it all.
