Marvel’s Avengers
A new character is coming to Marvel’s Avengers to give all players out there one more from the Avengers roster to keep the game flowing
The roster is going to keep growing for Marvel’s Avengers as we have another hero on the way to us all with an upcoming update. We are not talking about the one that was rumored from before, but one that we should have seen coming but did not until now. Currently Crystal Dynamics is working on getting us all the 2.4 update with all of the improvements that could be coming to it all. This new hero will roll out to Marvel’s Avengers with the 2.5, but that does not mean we do not get to know it all and speculate a bit on how they will be coming. Especially since this new hero will be Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor!
My guess is that this will all be to keep Marvel’s Avengers up to date with the most recent showing in the film side of things. Not to mention we can probably put down good money that we will see this update around July when the film comes. The details are a bit sparse for Jane here, but given that we have seen this in the past for Marvel’s Avengers, we can bet she will handle it a bit like the current Thor out there. The developers have already stated that, but Jane will have some things that make her more than just a clone character. At least if they want to keep any of that good faith that they have been building since the rough launch and growth since.
Our April Development Update
Hi Marvel’s Avengers faithful!
Now that patch 2.3 is behind us, we’d like to update you on what’s coming up in the near future for the game. This includes some great improvements to the event system as well as our next playable hero Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor!
Our next Update, 2.4, is currently targeting a May release. As we mentioned in our last Development Update, 2.4 will continue to focus on systems improvements with an emphasis on in-game events.
Events like Cosmic Threat, Tachyon Anomaly, and Corrupted Vibranium helped build a backbone to Marvel’s Avengers’ first year, allowing us to add variety to the Avengers Initiative and giving new and different goals to chase with your squadmates. As they’ve entered into a rotational calendar this year we want to make sure they stay fresh and compelling for replays. So, in Update 2.4 we’ll be reworking the systems behind those events with the goal of making them more rewarding. Combined with the improved game loop introduced in 2.3, we think these new rewards will make a meaningful change of pace for veteran players, and a great way to gear up for newer players.
There are a number of components going into that rework, including:
- To make each event more unique and worth playing, we’re improving and diversifying rewards across events, with each event now rewarding gear from different sets.
- Adding Unit rewards to a wider variety of event missions to provide even more ways to earn shipments and cosmetic vendor outfits.
- Adding higher power level gear rewards to meta objectives to create another path to gear up beyond the soft-cap on drops for non-Raid/Omega-Level Threat content.
- Meta objectives will grant rewards to your entire eligible roster, not just a single hero, allowing you to gear up your squad while playing your favorite hero.
Overall, the goal is to make events more compelling and to reward mission and objective play. We’ll reveal more details on specific changes in blogs and live streams as we get closer to Update 2.4.
Beyond that will be Update 2.5, and while we’ll be coming back with specifics on timing later, we can share that it will introduce a new playable Hero for all platforms: Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor! Our Hero designs are driven first and foremost by their core comic book identities, so, as a fellow wielder of Mjolnir, her suite of abilities will have a lot in common with the Odinson’s, however, she will also have elements that are distinctly Jane. More details on how Jane will come to life in our game will be coming in the future.
We love reaching these moments when we’re able to share a glimpse of the coming content and improvements that we’re so excited about. We want to give these updates as frequently as we can, and we can’t wait to talk about what’s next.
