Mega Man Is Coming To The Big Screen So Lets Cross Fingers

Mega Man

It has been announced that Mega Man is getting a silver screen adaptation of the franchise so let’s hope it stays true

The title, again, here pretty much takes the cake as it looks like Mega Man is getting a film adaptation for the game and it is slated to hit the big screens and not just straight to DvD. 20th Century Fox will be the big named studio behind this project but before you start your shuddering it looks like Chernin Entertainment has already tapped a few proven and talented people to make sure this Capcom title doesn’t go the way of video game movies. Mega Man is one of those titles that will be looked at with a heavy eye so there will be little wiggle room given the franchises popularity and massive Mega Man fan base.

All of this comes from a news site called the Tracking Board where they have exclusive coverage of this Mega Man film. Outside of a few of the people directing and producing the film there are no other real details. Not even if it is going to be all animated, live action, or a hybrid of the two. Mega Man could do well in any of those cases but we’ll just have to wait and see. Could you imagine a live action Mega Man film where the main roll is done up like Robo Cop? Or, and I shudder, like Green Lantern? Okay, maybe not a live action if those are our options here.

Here’s what they had to say about the Mega Man film that is in production as you are reading this text.

20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have started development on a fan favorite in the video game world. Heralded as one of the most popular video game franchises in history, Mega Man is now on his way to the big screen. Feel free to be cautiously optimistic.

One positive sign of things to come is Chernin Entertainment. David Ready and Michael Finfer are overseeing for the company, while Peter Chernin produces. Together they have a pretty solid pedigree for sci-fi action movies, including the recent/upcoming Planet of the Apes films. Mike Ireland and Ryan Horrigan are overseeing for Fox.

What are your thoughts on a Mega Man film? Should 20th Century Fox stay completely true to canon or do you think there should be a little wiggle room? Should they all go in a completely random and different direction? Let us know in the comments and let all of the discussion go wild. If there is more and positive information on the Mega Man film we will have it right here for you. Hells, even if it is bad we will have it so be sure to keep checking in right here for more on the Mega Man film and it production status.
