Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong

New gameplay for Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong is here from E3 and we get a look at another Vampire in the mix of it all

Things are getting a little more insane for Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong after the latest trailer we have for the game fresh out of E3 this year. Partially in the way that we are still waiting for that release date or window but also in the way that Big Bad Wolf is adding in another character for us to play with. This one being Leysha, a Malkavian, and those that are anywhere up on their Vampire: The Masquerade lore will know where this is going. This would be the clan of vampires that have their minds and sanity shattered by the transformation into the new form. It also looks like this will be another of our investigation-style characters in the game that we will get to use and also the various supernatural powers that come along with it. Something we also get a very small taste of in the new gameplay too.

While this clan of vampire is known for many different things, they are known for being able to hide in plain sight using a supernatural ability called Obfuscate. It muddles the minds of others to ignore and not notice the creature and it looks like it will be something we will need to master and use with Leysha in the game. Given that the gameplay does show that they are moving about a crime scene and the cinematics makes it look like they need to sneak to feed, it is something nice to see in the mix. Making our monster ‘invisible’ here will be a key thing if we are trying to keep the Masquerade intact as is always the case in the vampire world. Have a look and see just how they are handling the character and powers just below.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong — Leysha

Leysha is a Malkavian, one of the founding clans of the Camarilla, and appears as a young woman about 30 years old. Beneath her pale skin and different-sized pupils hides incurable pain, a mental instability that all Malkavians suffer from after the Embrace, the bite inflicted upon a human by a vampire, a creature doomed to remain hidden in plain sight.

In the video, Leysha is playing innocently with her child, Halsey. But this benign situation turns into a waking nightmare and raises the question: is any of this real?

To hide herself, Leysha uses Obfuscate, one of the many vampiric powers that can be used in the game. As a story-driven RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong features unique gameplay mechanics. Resolve conflicts and mysteries to gain experience points and level up your characters, thus boosting your special powers.

Is this about how you expected to see them handle this aspect of the Vampire game or were you hoping to see something else besides this? Do you think that Leysha will also have the other powers of the clan or will they just be the master of one to make it easier to get the job done? Do you think there will be more than just investigation scenes for them to play through here or will this just be their part in the grander scheme of the story? Give us all of those thoughts down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all as you so wish. There will be more for Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong, and we will have it all here for you. Just be sure to keep checking back in here for all of that and everything else that is still flowing out of E3 here.
