Mortal Kombat X
Warner Bros. and NetherRealm have announced that Mortal Kombat X will be getting a mobile version of the game to give all access to Mortal Kombat X
You read that correctly. Mortal Kombat X is coming to mobile devices now. It may not be in the same way you may be thinking but it will get to add multiple more devices for us all to experience the world of Mortal Kombat X. Granted the mobile version will be a fighting/card-battler game instead of the traditional Mortal Kombat we are used to but NetherRealm is looking to keep expanding the universe and in doing so this gives all of us a few more bonuses for Mortal Kombat X in the long run.
Before you ask, Mortal Kombat X‘s mobile app is going to be free to play and will sync up to the console and PC version of the game. There are no details as to what bonuses will flow between the full version of Mortal Kombat X and the mobile version but NetherRealm has stated that things in the core game will unlock things in the mobile and vice versa. Here’s exactly what Ed Boon (Creative Director) had to say about the mobile version of Mortal Kombat X.
“NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices. What’s more, we’ve expanded the unique cross-connectivity feature that links the mobile and console versions of Mortal Kombat X, delivering unique rewards to all players for simply playing the mobile game.” |
Mortal Kombat X — Mobile Trailer
Okay, so it isn’t Mortal Kombat X proper but given some of the other companion apps that have come out for other titles this has me excited. I have a feeling that the bonuses that will flow between the two versions of Mortal Kombat X will be more along the lines of the Factions gameplay but maybe we will get something more. Maybe the mobile app will unlock some of those hidden costumes just for playing. Maybe we will get extra Brutalities or Fatalities unlocked as “free DLC” for Mortal Kombat X. Less likely but it would be cool to have that option.
I know I look forward to playing the Mortal Kombat X mobile app when it comes out in April. Most likely April 14th but April 2015 is the only date we’ve been given so far. Either way I am interested to see how much further NetherRealm is going to expand Mortal Kombat X given what they have already done with the comic and now a mobile app. What do you think? Let us all know down in the comments.
