Mortal Kombat X’s Story Will Play A Bit Different

Mortal Kombat X

During the latest Kombat Kast for Mortal Kombat X it was shown how the game’s story will play as well as Johnny Cage’s moves

As if we didn’t have enough Mortal Kombat X news and updates last week, it looks like this week is starting off with a bang. Well technically as some of the story mode and Johnny Cage’s moves were shown during the Kombat Kast last Friday but we were only able now to get the clips that most may be interested in from the hour long show. I’m not stating that the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Kast isn’t worth the watch in general, the NetherRealm guys are great with it, but when it comes to the gameplay of Mortal Kombat X here is what we have to offer.

First it looks like the story mode for Mortal Kombat X is using a lot of the same structure that started in MK9 and carried over to Injustice. That being that each character will get their own chapter full of story that leads into each fight. The main difference for Mortal Kombat X is that the cinematics will also include a few Quick Time Events into the mix. As of now there is no word if the actions succeeded or failed in the cut scenes will affect the matches afterward but they do alter how the scenes play out which is a pretty cool addition. I just hope that they do lead to specific advantages or disadvantages for the following matches.

Have a look, if you want, at a bit of Mortal Kombat X‘s first chapter featuring the announced Johnny Cage.

Mortal Kombat X — Story Mode Gameplay

Speaking of Johnny Cage, we were also treated to a nice long look at his new variations in Mortal Kombat X. Most of which make Johnny Cage look like an amazing character added into the mix of the game. He used to be one of the characters I loathed to use in Mortal Kombat but for Mortal Kombat X he looks like he has been given an amazing upgrade. Well at least two of the variations of his at least. Here’s a break down as well as some gameplay footage of Johnny Cage in action for Mortal Kombat X.

  • A-List – Can charge up moves for more damage
  • Fisticuffs – Brass knuckles buff with Chip Damage increase
  • Stunt Double – Gains two extra “charges” for super moves

Mortal Kombat X — Johnny Cage All Variations Gameplay

Like I said, all kinds of new information and looks at Mortal Kombat X. If you want to see the whole Kombat Kast for Mortal Kombat X you can spy the whole thing below. There are a few extra things in the mix, including a nice look at the mo-cap for some scenes, if you have about 45 minutes to spend outside of the above. I guess it should be said there a few spoilers in the mix as well but that should be assumed as they are digging into the story of Mortal Kombat X. Watch and enjoy all the looks at Mortal Kombat X.
