Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Konami tried to ‘leak’ information about Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, but can they really ‘leak’ the information?
Usually when you hear about video game news leaking it is due to someone who pirated or downloaded something about the game that the PR reps, publishers, or developers didn’t want in the wild yet. That is not the case this time with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. At least if the PR email that I was sent as anything to say about it. In fact part of the title states “Konami Leaks Ground Zeroes Details…” How is that called a leak? Mind answering that?
In any instance, let’s take a look at this high classified information that the publisher for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes wanted to ‘leak’.
The first big tidbit, which is also part of the second tid bit, is that any and all of us who pick up Ground Zeroes early in its release cycle will get some exclusive content for The Phantom Pain in the form of DLC. This DLC will be some additional resources for an area called Mother Base that will show up in Ground Zeroes but have a larger role in The Phantom Pain. Apparently this will give us “an edge” when playing through TPP in the form of ‘staff’. Whatever that means.
Second up, some of the ‘exclusive content’ of Ground Zeroes will carry over to The Phantom Pain. What is expressly stated is that the prisoners and VIPs you rescue in GZ will be part of the staff in the Mother Base area of TPP. This also gives you some kind of in-game advantage that isn’t fully explained. I’m sure it will make sense after we get to play both titles. Oh, and also part of that content will be the character skins that will be unlocked in Ground Zeroes. So that will carry over nicely.
Lastly, and probably the best, is that the pricing structure for Ground Zeroes has seemed to have been given another look at. Retail versions of Ground Zeroes for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will all be $29.99. The digital download version will be $19.99 thus bringing all versions of Ground Zeroes to be in-line with the ‘current gen’ pricing. There is a total win there given the rumors of how short the game will be.
So how did you like all that ‘leaked’ information? Did it get you excited for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes or Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? Did it?
