Overwatch Is Getting Its Closed Beta On In The Next Few Weeks

Overwatch

The Overwatch closed beta has now been dated and the process that players will be able to help shape Overwatch has been detailed out a bit more

We’ve seen all the heroes and villains of Overwatch in action and now it is time to play them and help tweak them with the announced beta for the game. There had been no date set by Blizzard for said beta up until now. But that was then and this is now so we can all look forward to playing in the Overwatch beta here as early as October 27th on our PCs. That would be the official starting date for the closed beta so you better make sure you are all signed up so you can not only play Overwatch but also help shape it into the game you want to play. Normal beta stuff and all.

Of course this is also going to be more than just a beta for Overwatch but also a stress test for the servers so Blizzard can make sure that things will run smooth at launch. Of course these “stress tests” for Overwatch will limit some of the gameplay options we will get in the beta and it will also be limited to specific weekends where another small group of testers will be given access to Overwatch to aid in this. Again, pretty standard for a traditional “beta” test that is being given out to the public. At least if they are truly trying to alter Overwatch to fit the player’s wants and needs.

You can still head over to blizz.ly/JoinOverwatch to sign up for the Overwatch closed beta. Hopefully you can still get in on it and you’ll be playing as early as October 27th and not having to wait until the “stress test” weekends. That wouldn’t really be the best way to experience Overwatch but it may be your only option at this moment. Better head over and try to get in there…

Overwatch — Beta

Overwatch — Beta

The Overwatch beta officially begins October 27th, and we’re getting ready to invite our first batch of recruits for some field-testing! Read the mission briefing below to learn more about our plans for the beta, and don’t forget to sign up if you’re interested in helping us shape the fight for the future.

We’re aiming to accomplish two primary goals with our public beta test: First, get tons of top-notch feedback on the gameplay—including balance, feel, and fun—to help us make Overwatch the best team-based shooter on the planet. Second, we want to hammer the heck out of our tech, including stress-testing our server infrastructure and making sure the game runs great on the widest variety of systems possible.

To accomplish this, we’re dividing our beta participants into two different groups, each with different mission objectives and deployment schedules. The Closed Beta group will form the core of our testing crew. In addition, we’ll be conducting a number of Beta Test Weekends with wider groups of players when it’s time to break out the big guns.

Are you excited to see Overwatch moving into a public beta of sorts? Will you be trying to play all of the time or will you only be helping Blizzard out during those special weekends? Not all of us will be able to get into the general beta and be stuck there. Let us know and discuss away in the comments below. Once the Overwatch beta gets underway I am sure we will have plenty to update and bring you so be sure to keep checking back in. We’ll have it all when it all goes live.
