PlayStation 5 Pro Is Announced & Bringing Some New Updates

The PlayStation 5 Pro is officially announced and aims to offer up more performance for the PlayStation 5

One of the worst-kept secrets out there has finally been confirmed with the PlayStation 5 Pro getting an official announcement. An announcement, showcasing, and a release date only four years after the original versions dropped out there. Well, as close to four years as possible as the PlayStation 5 Pro is slated to drop on November 7th of this year while the original PS5 hit on November 14th, but good enough. That is, as long as you are looking to get the newer system with a few upgrades for the $699.99 price tag that it is coming with. Quite a bit more than the original, but with the company raising prices on all of the current hardware, it feels exactly where they were going to put this.

So, what are we getting in the PlayStation 5 Pro to justify the new upgrade and higher price out there? For starters, it looks like the GPU here is a bit bigger and more powerful than the original one. There will be a new AI-enhanced system built in to help with rendering and getting those visuals up to that 4K resolution and 120 fps that is all the rage. Also a 2TB SSD and the latest in Wi-Fi 7 technology for those who want to play online. Those who pick up the PlayStation 5 Pro will also get a DualSense controller and a copy of Astor’s Playroom in the mix for that price. However, there will not be a vertical stand included for some weird reason. That is all for the Disc Drive version and there will be a Disc-less version that should be slightly cheaper but with all of the same bells and whistles.

PlayStation 5 Pro Console — Technical Presentation

Mark Cerny, Lead Architect of the PlayStation 5 gives a technical presentation that focuses on PlayStation 5 Pro and innovations in gaming technology.

Okay, for all the hype, talk, and speculation for the PlayStation 5 Pro, it feels quite a bit lackluster and vastly more expensive than it should be. I understand the want to give gamers the option to play their games with the fidelity mode “always on” but this seems like such a small step toward that as it still requires all of the developers to adhere to all of that. Not to mention the need to have a screen that can also handle all that the system is pumping out. I know quite a few who do not even have systems that can handle the HDR settings of the current PlayStation 5, so this feels much more like a niche item in the current state. Maybe we will see something that shocks us all down the line, but it does look like this is only for those who do not have a PS5 already or do not want to wait until the inevitable PS6 drops.

Does this look like a PlayStation console for you or are the upgrades rather limited for the price point here? Will the Disc-less option be less than $600 or will it only drop the price by about $50 instead? Does this feel like it is not even a half-step to a new system or just a way to get those who do not know better to drop more money on a console they might not need at this point? Take those thoughts into the comment section and then feel free to discuss it all. There is a lot more to come for the PlayStation 5 Pro, I am sure, so we will do what we can to cover it and the bigger differences with the current systems out there. Please keep coming back to see and hear about all of those thoughts we are certainly going to have for this.
