Review — Fallout Shelter

Fallout Shelter

We sit back And Review Fallout Shelter. This of course being the nice little distraction on mobile devices until Fallout 4 releases. Let’s see if it is worth our time or not

This won’t be an overly long review since Fallout Shelter is only of a mobile game but they are a lot of good things I like about this game so I am going to start with the few small gripes I have with Fallout Shelter.

To start things off Fallout Shelter is a little buggy and crashes randomly on my girlfriend’s iPad that is only a few years old. I am sure this is an easy fix and Bethesda Game Studios will get it fixed in short order when a new update is rolled out.

I myself haven’t maxed everything out and “completed the game” but many people have already made it to the end and now have nothing else but a few collectibles left to collect in Fallout Shelter. I know this game was just a side project and was released mainly to tie us over until Fallout 4 is available. Still it would be nice after that to get a few new things added to the game as time goes on and the release of Fallout 4 isn’t looming over us.

Next up; no simultaneous Android release for Fallout Shelter. How hard could it of really been to release it at the same time as the iOS version? I have a Galaxy S5 and I have to borrow an iPhone 6 just to play Fallout Shelter here and there. I know the release is coming but it just feels like it should have hit all of the platforms at the same time to appease all of us who want our Fallout fix before the big day.

Also it seems the Raider attacks on my vault are few and far between in Fallout Shelter. Like I said I am still not a great way through the game but I would like to just have a set roster of people to respond to these attacks instead of trying to remember which of my dwellers had the best weapons. Hopefully this is something that will be patched by Bethesda Game Studios in a future update but I am not completely sure how that will roll out or when. I just know it would be nice.

Some of the things I absolutely love about Fallout Shelter though are that there are no pay walls or required internet connections to play the game at all. It’s something you don’t see often but none the less still amazing and worth a mention. Hopefully more titles follow suit from Bethesda here and do the same thing.

Also, it is quite fun to be an Overseer. You can tell the attention to detail that went into making Fallout Shelter. I would even go as far to say that even non-Fallout fans should give it a go. The game is free. When I first started a few hours went by in no time. I rarely get bored playing this game because just when you get ready to lay the game down a Raider attack, or Radroach infestation bubble up through a floor in my vault. Fallout Shelter keeps you on your toes without being overbearing. After you get your vault up and running you can send your dwellers out into the wasteland where they will have their own little adventures you can read about and find new weapons, and clothes you can either sell or give to the dwellers in the vault to help protect them from those pesky Radroaches.

All in all Fallout Shelter is a fun little time killer. I am very happy with the execution of a mobile game based of the Fallout universe that is fun enough I’d actually recommend it to people who don’t play Fallout games at all.
