Assassin's Creed Comet
New rumors have cropped up stating that the rumored Assassin’s Creed Comet will take place in Ancient Rome.
New rumors about Assassin’s Creed Comet rumors have cropped up all based off something stated during an interview with Jade Raymond (Managing Director at Ubisoft Toronto) on The Grid. There is a bit of a stretch taken by other news and blogs sites out there based off one quote but it would be extremely interesting and would give away the next location after Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s French Revolution. Here is the quote based off the question Why has [Assassin’s Creed] been so huge?
I think the key to a popular game is a good core fantasy. In Assassin’s Creed, there is the obvious part: Who doesn’t want to be a badass assassin? But then there is an additional element of getting to relive and play a role in these pivotal moments in history. We work with historians to recreate these societies—ancient Rome, the French Revolution. And because each game is crafted in a new era, players don’t get tired of the it. |
Now for the stretching and reaching as we have already been to Rome in Assassin’s Creed II. Firstly, there is the link to a player survey that came out asking where and when we would want to play the next Assassin’s Creed title. One of the options was “The rise of Cesar’s Empire in Ancient Rome”. This would be a distinct difference between the Rome we have already have had and the speculated one. Could we possibly see the epic world of Gladiator fights and the destruction of other civilizations due to a mad man glorified? Maybe…
This isn’t where the speculation ends though. The subtitle of Assassin’s Creed Comet is also being linked to Caesar’s Comet and the relation to its placement in the real world around the real individual’s death. That feels a bit of a stretch for my tastes as it really sounds more like a placeholder subtitle; then again so does Unity. So who knows besides Ubisoft and those developers up in the Toronto studio?
There is also a piece of “concept art” floating around online but that could really be a piece of fan art from the look of it. That is why it has not been included here.
Personally I would rather see a Feudal Japan or an Ancient Greece setting myself as I am tired of seeing how the Italians have ruined the world in history. Maybe in a future Assassin’s Creed title, at least if the rumors and speculation prove to be true. They might but I will hold out until Ubisoft says one thing or another. If ACC is in ancient Rome I am sure we will hear about that soon or during the standard press event at E3 here in less than two months time.
