Rumor Mill: Next God Of War Heading Into Norse Mythology

A new rumor for God Of War has popped up and this one points to the next God Of War being placed in Norse mythology and has some concept art to go with it

It has been some time since last we heard an update on what was going on with the God Of War franchise. During the PlayStation Experience in 2014 we received confirmation that Santa Monica Studios was working on the next installment but that has really been it. Of course there have been rumors and speculation all of over the map for the next God Of War title but here we go again with more rumors to add into. The only kicker here is that now we have some concept art to go along with the rumored Norse Mythology setting for the game.

Originally these rumors started to spiral again when a twitter user by the name of @Shinobi602 posted a few tweets about God Of War 4. “Across the rainbow bridge…” and “…to the halls of Valhalla. My boy. #GodofWar4” were sent out which seemed like the first big tease as the user has been on par in the past. But then a whole mess of concept art for the proposed God Of War title has been “leaked” out and many other sources are reporting they are real. Not only real but also look to place Kratos in the mix of the likes of Odin, Loki, and Thor.



Going on from there it looks like the “leaker” also had a few extra tidbits to give and items that can be seen in the images above. Like the fact that Kratos wouldn’t have just the pointed beard from God Of Wars passed but would don a full beard. Also it looks like the Blades of Chaos are set down and he is now using an axe for some reason. How that would play into the amazing combat system already designed for the past titles I don’t know but that is what we see and hear right now.

Here’s a full list that has been compiled so far if this new God Of War information does happen to be true. Of course all of this is still going to sit in the Rumor bin until Santa Monica Studios gives the full confirmation. Until then we get to just sit back and enjoy what could be the next God Of War game.

  • There is Kratos, with beard
  • The setting is the Norse Mythology
  • Kratos will visit Alfheim, “Land Of The Fairies”, one of the Nine Worlds and home of the Light Elves (concepts show the Wall and the Temple Door)
  • Kratos will be in one or more prison
  • Kratos has an Axe, with which he can cut vines and create bridges/walkways
  • The surrounding environment could interact with the character (if Kratos brushes-up against the vines, they expel visible spores)
