inFAMOUS: Second Son
Let’s add a bit of a break from the E3 trailers and PrE3 announcements for a moment and take a look at how some of the next gen tech is shaping up in regards to motion capture. Since both the PlayStation 4 and inFAMOUS: Second Son are going to be huge things at the event I am sure we will get to see more, but for now let’s look at how much detail the new hardware and software will handle the fine movements in a game. Some of these being things that can help define a character’s mood without the need of speaking.
Pretty interesting even though the main character looks to have a lazy eye most of the time. This does get me pretty excited for the future of cinematic style games. It may mean that we get more “This game is awesome because [Insert Actor/ress] is playing X role” kind of announcements, but this does open up a whole other avenue not only for gamers but for actors in general. As long as they can get the facial and physical movements right for a game then it will no longer matter if they fit the social convention required by most actors today.
But now I’m getting way ahead of myself. Let’s just go back to it will make games look that much cooler in the end and wait for more news out of E3.
