New gameplay for Sleight Of Hand has been tossed out there to give us a better feeling of how Sleight Of Hand will use the magic of the cards
Talk about a game going into stealth mode for a while only to randomly attack us as Sleight Of Hand just did as we build up to the bigger showcase for the end of the year. Just in case you forgot about it, this would be the latest title that RiffRaff Games has been working on for the Xbox Series X|S and PC. The one that places us in the role of an old witch who has turned noir detective out there. One that also uses a cursed deck of cards to help cast magic and pull off the various occult needs during the run of Sleight Of Hand. I hope that has rekindled the flames of your memory, but if not, then we have some new gameplay out of the Day Of The Devs event to further highlight how this is all going down.
This new gameplay for Sleight Of Hand digs further into how we will be mixing Lady Luck’s natural abilities with the cards in the mix out there. We will have the ability to teleport about via smoke and ashes from our cigarettes so we can keep the stealth gameplay going. That way we can grab a few things about the maps while also getting the perfect vantage points to set up a run of bad luck for all of the enemies out there. As we see here for Sleight Of Hand, we will have the ability to Honey Trap an enemy to stun them, as well as link that to other enemies if we have the right cards and range. All so we can set off the proper train of events to stun everyone and then use more of the smoke powers in Sleight Of Hand to sneak right along. A lot of fun and an interesting twist on all of the stealth mechanics other games have used in the past. Have a look and see what we described in motion.
Sleight Of Hand — Gameplay
Sleight Of Hand, a third-person, card-slinging occult noir stealth game from RiffRaff Games, premiered a behind-the-scenes video trailer at Day of the Devs 2024: The Game Awards Edition. From the team led by Joshua Boggs, creator of the multi-award-winning noir puzzle game FRAMED, Sleight Of Hand invites players to unravel an occult mystery as Lady Luck, a retired detective pulled in to do one last job – bring down her former coven.
Set in the rain-soaked streets of Steeple City, the game follows Lady Luck (voiced by Debi Mae West, known for her role as Meryl Silverburgh in Metal Gear Solid), as she investigates her old witch coven and its recent rise to power. Armed with a taboo deck of cursed cards, players will uncover sinister truths, navigate ritualistic magic systems, and mete out justice against their past companions as they see fit, in a world dripping with noir flavor.
Players will harness the power of their cards to outwit enemies: see through walls, blind opponents to avoid detection, or vanish in a puff of smoke to evade capture. When stealth fails, turn the tables with devastating curses and combos. Upgrade your deck to unleash powerful abilities like the Crone’s Mark to crush the bones in an enemy’s body, or use synergies to inflict Hexes, teleport behind targets, and execute silent takedowns.
Sleight Of Hand is coming to PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass “when it’s ready”.
