Song Of Horror
A new horror game, Song Of Horror, is on its way this October to bring some true horror to our lives with the first two episodes of Song Of Horror
The horror season is upon us as we now have a new look at Song Of Horror just before its October 31st release date. That is, before the first two episodes of the game are released as Protocol Games is doing this as an episodic style experience. Each episode of Song Of Horror will take the thirteen different characters through a new location that will be filled with puzzles and horrors to be had. Just as one would expect in a game like this. It will not be all that easy, though, as there is also permadeath for the characters that will somehow change which viewpoints you have in the game. That is, each character will go through the episode differently if I am understanding this all correctly.
At first, Song Of Horror does not sound like it is going to be anything different than what we would normally expect from a game like this. The interesting part here is that it will house an AI system that will learn your habits for horror games and change things up to get the best scares. An example would be, if you like to explore the map for every little clue, Song Of Horror will learn this and place more jumps and scares in hidden places where items may be. If you are quick at getting through puzzles and the like, the game will raise the speed that the “Presence” will strike. It sounds interesting in text, but until we see it in action it is hard to believe. That is at least for me.
Song Of Horror — Nightmare Trailer
Song Of Horror is a psychological horror adventure. Face the manifestations of the Presence, an unpredictable, eldritch AI that reacts to your way of playing: you won’t experience two exact gameplays. Death is permanent: you may die, but the horror continues.
Beware the shadows and the darkness which seem silent. Beware the closed doors, the whispering mirrors. Beware the Song Of Horror that nests in the cracks of your mind.
The famed writer Sebastian P. Husher has gone missing, along with his entire family. Worried, his editor sent an assistant to his house in order to look for him — but he never came back… These disappearances spark a set of events that will soon reveal something dreadful: a nameless, dark entity known only as The Presence seems to be responsible — and it’s still somewhere, out there, lurking in the shadows, waiting for you… You may die, but the horror continues — others will pick the investigation up from where you left it until you all find out the origin of The Presence and put an end to this nightmare.
Spooky Characteristics:
- Investigate a paranormal mystery in a thrilling story of psychological horror
- Beware The Presence, an otherworldly entity with its own AI that reacts to your actions and decisions in a non-scripted, unpredictable horror experience
- Choose between a group of unique characters: each one brings its own point of view and has a different relation to the story and other characters
- You may die, but the horror continues: death is permanent — when a character dies, it’s gone…
- …but the next one will follow the investigation from where the deceased left it. The world will be shaped by their previous actions.
- Explore haunted, sinister locations to gather clues and items that will help you solve challenging puzzles while enduring the agonizing tension of the game’s atmosphere
How does Song Of Horror sound to you here and will it be something you are going to add into your Steam cart? Does it sound like it will be another straightforward kind of horror game or will it be exactly the AI haunting experience they are aiming for? Do you think the permadeath will carry over between each episode and lock you out if everyone dies? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. As more for Song Of Horror is out there, we will update you here. Just be sure to keep checking back in for that and much more.
