Star Wars Battlefront Is Going Offline But Not In The Way You Think

Star Wars Battlefront

A new mode for Star Wars Battlefront has been announced, is coming next week, and will be giving Star Wars Battlefront an offline mode of play

It’s been almost half a year since Star Wars Battlefront came out and we already know of another title in the franchise in the work. One could assume that DICE was letting the game fall to the side as they work on other projects but EA just isn’t going to let that happen. Especially since there are gamers out there whom have purchased the season pass for Star Wars Battlefront and need more content. Or at least want more content and it looks like the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game will be getting a new mode this coming week. A new offline mode for the game at that.

The wait still continues for the Star Wars Battlefront Death Star DLC that is slated for a September release but it looks like on July 20th a new offline mode will be ours for the downloading. This new mode is called Skirmish and will place us in the mix of things with AI bots or split screen friends as we fight to win the day. As it sounds the online multiplayer aspect of the game is faltering and this is a last grab to keep our attentions while the rest of the DLC rolls out and the new title is worked on. Of course that is how I read it and it could just mean that DICE is still hard at work trying to boost the game back to its original heights.

New Offline Mode Coming Next Week, with the Star Wars Battlefront Death Star Expansion Pack set to be Fully Operational in September

It’s been about six months since we first launched Star Wars Battlefront. We’ve expanded the game universe with free multiplayer maps, gave out Hoth-themed hero outfits, and called on Jabba the Hutt to hand out Hutt Contracts for powerful weapons. For expansion pack owners, we’ve taken you to the factories of Sullust in the Outer Rim and to the Cloud City of Bespin. Now it’s time to share something a bit different.

To get right to the point, we’ve been listening to your feedback and your desire for more offline modes. Today we’re excited to officially announce a new mode, Skirmish, for all Star Wars Battlefront players.

The new mode will be available starting July 20 and offers players the option to play offline against bots in a solo mission or with a friend using co-op split screen. (Console only) Skirmish can be played on a difficulty level of your choosing and across two modes, Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron. With multiple locations that span the galaxy, from the frozen planet of Hoth to the lava encrusted planet of Sullust, we hope Skirmish brings players a new way to enjoy Star Wars Battlefront.

Are you glad to see a new mode coming to Star Wars Battlefront or have you already moved on down the road to another game? Do you think that this is just EA pushing to make sure we stick around to experience all of the DLC they’ve already funded? Will you be heading back to play it all offline? Let us know and feel free to discuss in the comments below. For more on all of the Star Wars titles coming and going out there be sure to stay right here as we will keep bringing you everything that we can.
