Still Wakes The Deep Gives Us The Blueprints For A New Horror

Still Wakes The Deep

A mini-diary for Still Wakes The Deep is out and offering a look at the horror behind the world of Still Wakes The Deep

Get ready to go behind the scenes of Still Wakes The Deep and see how the game has been put together out there for us. Well, more is being put together out there by The Chinese Room and Secret Mode as the game is still in development and still aiming for a 2024 release date. We will see how that all pans out. Also, while seeing those features, horror, and other bits of Still Wakes The Deep come to life just before it hits the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Get ready to see more about how our video games are made out there with this new and fun update. All with the same gameplay we have seen before for those who are only here for the new gameplay footage and not to see how their fun is made.

In this new video we have below, we get to see how the team has taken Still Wakes The Deep from basic prototypes to the product we have seen in many of the gameplay footage already. All while explaining how they used a lot of reference material and photographs to make the oil rig feel as authentic as possible even if the game does require it to be well outside the normal size for it all. That and that the team opted to use all of the lighting effects from the start of Still Wakes The Deep so they could better block everything out and then build from there so they knew they could make the gameplay loop fit well with the look of the game. Not the way I would think about going with it all, but it does look as if the final product might be in a better place due to all of this.

Still Wakes The Deep — The Blueprints Of The Beira D

This mini-documentary on The Chinese Room’s title premiered as part of IGN Fan Fest on the 20th of February, 2024. In it, The Chinese Room’s Lead Designer Rob McLachlan, and Senior Game Designer Jade Jacson give insights about the environments and atmospheres the player will get to experience in Still Wakes The Deep.

Still Wakes The Deep is due to release in 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC Game Pass.

Even though none of this is the most exciting update for Still Wakes The Deep, it does highlight new ways of going about development. It seems as if it is all working out well here for this title but for others, it might not be the best. This is why I do enjoy seeing these behind-the-scenes looks at games so I can try to learn new steps or concepts I might not think to go with as of yet. Still Wakes The Deep feels like it is still a long way off, so it will be hard to tell if this was the best option. It was just an option, though, and shows that some might be trying to think outside of the box to help push the industry forward just a bit more. That or show others how not to go about a level design. All of it is a learning experience.

What do you think about where Still Wakes The Deep is sitting and will it still land in 2024? Did you learn anything new about development for yourself or do you not even care about this at all? Would it be best to have those who do not scare easily to play the game or only have those who have an over-reaction so you can think you are doing a great job? Head down to the comment section to let the world know what you are thinking about all of this. We are going to have more for Still Wakes The Deep down the line, so please come on back to see and hear about all of that. Maybe we will even have a release date and new gameplay to look at in the mix of it all too.
