As Suspected… Mortal Kombat X Is Now Officially Announced

Mortal Kombat X

The countdown is over and Mortal Kombat X has been officially announced with a trailer and a few bits on gameplay

After weeks of teasing and many “leaks” it looks like we got what was “promised” as Mortal Kombat X has now been fully announced. It even has a nice pre-rendered trailer to go along with it. At least it is assumed to be pre-rendered but the fact that it looks to be using the Unreal Engine 4 as a base and planned for the PS4, XB1, and PC as well as the “last gen” consoles, it might not be out of the realm of possibilities for it to be real time footage. Doubtful, but possible.

Outside of this announcement trailer for Mortal Kombat X comes a few new details. Mostly little things to be speculated on as we move into the first floor showing at E3 next week but some of these items sound just as interesting as the fact that we are getting new characters to the franchise in Mortal Kombat X. It’s been how long since there have been full new characters to the MK world? Quite some time if I remember correctly.

So what are these other features coming with Mortal Kombat X? At least outside of the ambiguous “new game modes” description. There is a planned “persistent online contest” listed that sounds to be a bit more than just a leader board but that is all that has been said so far there. The other big change is that we will be able to choose different forms of each character that will offer up different fighting styles outside of the assumed costume change.

That sounds like the biggest change there. That is if we want to ignore things in the announcement trailer. Have a look so I don’t spoil the fun for the Mortal Kombat X announcement before moving on.

Could there be more to the environmental attacks in Mortal Kombat X? This trailer definitely makes it look like we will be able to grab part of the world and use it as a weapon or use the environment to boost combos. That is just speculation on my part as the trailer also shows the X-ray mode from before and other gameplay features we have grown to love and know in the franchise. It could just be there for flavor to better hype Mortal Kombat X so don’t take that as gospel just yet. It’s just the eagle eye of this crazed writer.

I am sure there will be many things explained next week at E3 and we will keep you up to date as we can.
