Take A Seat And See What Is Coming Out At Us With The Announcement For SCP: Control Error

SCP: Control Error

The SCP universe is further expanding by the fans with the announcement that we have here for the upcoming SCP: Control Error

Those looking for more of a player-driven title out there, then you might want to drop SCP: Control Error on the radar of titles coming to the PC out there. This is the latest that Chieftain Artworks and Goonswarm Games are working on to give us yet another experience in the world out there. It is a weird one, to say the least, but given that it is not held by a single developer and publisher, it is one that can always be evolving. Unless this one does not build into the growing universe that SCP has out there already. We have seen many other titles with the name crop up, but this one does look like it will offer up something new for us all.

SCP: Control Error looks to be a smaller entry into the fun that the community has built out there, as it will only run about 30 to 45 minutes to experience. An experience that will be altered and shifted as the community makes choices along the way, with our character. Speaking of, this one will have us taking up the role of Barry Grittings as they explore a Cold War-era facility with all of the other weirdness that the SPC Foundation has been cultivating along the way. That is, at least, how I have come to understand how all of this is working while not being fully into the community. Nonetheless, have a look at the announcement and see if it will be able to offer up all of the promises that one might be looking for with all of this fun.

SCP: Control Error — Official Announcement

You are Barry Gittings – a man who volunteered for a classified experiment inside the Vortex Complex, a remote underground facility established during the Cold War.

You don’t know what’s behind the next door.

You don’t know who’s watching.

You only know the doors opened, the voice welcomed you, and the test began.

Explore sealed research chambers. Solve strange cognitive trials. Read internal reports and documents left behind by those who came before – or maybe didn’t leave at all.

No jump scares. No gunfights. Just you, the test, and something you can’t quite see.

This isn’t a branching narrative. It’s a live experiment. And it keeps evolving based on what players choose – beyond the screen.

Players decide. Not developers.

Key Features:

  • A short, tightly focused first-person horror experience (30–45 minutes)
  • Explore a Cold War-era research facility with a dark secret
  • Solve immersive environmental puzzles and cognitive trials
  • You’re not told what’s happening – only shown what was recorded.
  • A community-influenced narrative – shaped by real player choices, just like how the SCP Foundation grows through every member’s contribution.

Are you a member of the SCP community and can shed some extra light out there for those of us who are not when it comes to this game? How well do you think this live experiment will go down in the mix of all of this, or will players quickly ruin the fun by being humans? Do you like seeing IPs like this getting all of the attention away from the bigger studios or will these always be “flash in the pan” kind of experiences to have only once? Take those thoughts and fill out the comment section with them all for discussion. We are still learning what we can for SCP: Control Error, so please join us in the ride that we are about to go on. It looks like it could be a fun one when all is said and done out there.
