The Alley
The Alley will be releasing this month, with The Alley giving us a new take on some Korean folklore & horror
A new kind of nightmare is on the way to us all, with the official release date for The Alley. A new title that will have us trying to survive weird anomalies and entities out there in the world that AIXLAB has been working on for the PC. One that also dives deep into some Korean folklore and horror to keep us all glued to our screens this Summer, and in a few weeks. That’s to say, Smilegate is gearing up to get The Alley out to us all on July 24th now. As long as you are into creepy horror titles that will have us all wandering back alleys, trying to figure out if something is a Ghost Trace or if it is a Ghost Feint. I’m sure that will make a bit more sense once we can all dive into the game, or finally get introduced to the culture that it is coming from.
While we do have a little clip of The Alley to go along with the release date announcement, there’s not much in the way of showing off what the game will truly give us when it comes to the loop. It’s a horror game that will have us wandering through a recreation of an alleyway in Korea that just also happens to have all manner of things going on in it. To help us get home, we’ll have to use our phones (in-game) to spot the weirdness, see if it is a Trace or a Feint, and then use that information to start running or progress as needed. Similar to a few other titles out there, just that The Alley will have 64 different anomalies out there to try to trick us into an early demise. Something that’s rather close to Exit 8, just from a different team, in a different location, and bringing a new cultural influence to the rest of the gaming world. Have a little peek at all of it just a little bit further down, and see if you’ll be taking the walk in just a few more weeks.
The Alley — Release Date
The Alley officially launches on July 24th! Prepare to enter a recurring nightmare. As the boundary between reality, “Ghost Traces,” and “Ghost Feints” begins to blur, your camera becomes your only lifeline in these eerie, maze-like back alleys. This is a first-person psychological horror game inspired by Korean folklore. Explore the labyrinthine alleys, use your camera to distinguish between supernatural “Ghost Traces” and deceptive “Ghost Feints,” and find your way out while evading the relentless pursuit of vengeful spirits.
Key Features:
- Spot The Anomaly, Make The Call. Raise your phone, photograph what’s wrong, and judge: Ghost Trace or Ghost Feint? 64 anomalies will test your eyes.
- Survive The Chase. The ghost is always watching. When you feel its presence, don’t look back. Just run.
- A Faithful Recreation of a Korean Alley. Narrow streets, neighborhood storefronts, familiar sounds. Until everything begins to feel wrong.
- Experience True Uncanny. The horror isn’t just about monsters. It’s hidden in everyday spaces that suddenly feel alien, silent, and deeply wrong.
The Alley launches on Steam on July 24, 2026. Wishlist now and help Soyeon get home.
Do you agree that The Alley sounds and feels a lot like some other games out there? Will the setting and cultural differences be enough to help it stand alone? What will be the reason for the loop if we fail the chase and get caught by the horrors in the streets? Will the cat play a larger role than just being creepy out there? Let’s hear it all out in the comment section further down the page here. I’ll say that The Alley does have an interesting take on things, just not something that might fully capture everyone out there. It’s a step in breaking us free from the usual gameplay we’ve had for a while, in general, which is always appreciated. We’ll see what comes of it. To join us in all of that, keep on coming back to the site and follow all of our socials out there to see when we have something new to share.
