The Blair Witch Is Coming & This Time In Video Game Form

Blair Witch

The Blair Witch has a new game announced at E3 and aims to place us all in a new story set in the world of the Blair Witch

In one of the bigger surprises of the Xbox E3 Briefing, we officially got word that a Blair Witch video game is on its way to us. On its way to us on the PC and Xbox One on August 30th of this year. Also it is coming from Bloober Team. You know, the team that was behind Layers Of Fear and _Observer. Now they are taking what they have learned from these franchises and bringing it all over to the Blair Witch franchise to bring more fear and terror into our lives. They have done well with their recent titles, so it looks like it could be in some great hands.

I am not going to lie; I originally was excited for this as it looked like a new Alan Wake title, as Blair Witch will allow us to fight back with our flashlight in the dark woods of the Black Hills Forest. All while playing as a former police officer who is taking on the task to search for another missing person in the woods. You can see where all of the parallels could be drawn between them all. Thankfully, Blair Witch will be its own video game while adding into the lore of the film franchise. Yes, that means that what we get to experience here in the game will also be part of the cinematic story. For those who want to have a deeper meaning behind everything that they see and play.

Blair Witch — E3 2019 Reveal Trailer

Grab your camcorder and run like hell! Today the Bloober Team, in partnership with global content leader Lionsgate, revealed Blair Witch, live from The Xbox E3 Briefing. From the masters of fright, this brand-new first-person psychological horror game will return players to the dreadful woods in an original story inspired by the iconic Blair Witch. Currently in development for the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and PC, Blair Witch is set to launch worldwide on August 30, 2019.

It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods.

From the creative minds behind the critically acclaimed Layers Of Fear, experience first-hand the toll that fear can take on the mind in an original story. Blair Witch is a first-person psychological horror game that studies your reactions to danger and stress. Your darkest fears will awaken.

Set to release digitally on Xbox One and PC on August 30, 2019 for an MSRP of $29.99, Blair Witch can be pre-ordered now and will be also available through Xbox Game Pass upon release.

While all of the above is fun for Blair Witch, there is not much in the way of actual gameplay. Even with the title only a few months out from launch, one would think we would have something like that to look at. I guess Bloober was saving that for a different showing as the following interview has some of it in the background as well as a longer explanation on the things mentioned above. It looks to play just like all of the other titles mixed in here, but we can also confirm that the dog will be there with you throughout the game and not just a background character in Blair Witch. You can start your cheering now.
