Star Wars Battlefront II
There is a new Star Wars Battlefront II story trailer here to show off more of the single-player mode of Star Wars Battlefront II we will have
There has been some sad news out there for the Star Wars franchises as it comes to gaming here, but let us focus on the non-developer-shutting-down side of things and look at Battlefront II that is still coming to us on November 17th. It was not DICE that was shut down, after all, and they have been working hard to try and give us a nice title to play before the next film comes out in December. Just as I am sure EA will want us all to remember. This is most likely why we now have another story trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II that goes more into the single-player aspect of it all. There is going to be more than just the multiplayer here if you all remember.
It has not been a huge secret that the story of Star Wars Battlefront II is going to follow along with the lines of someone from the Empire side of it all and just to see what makes them tick. We have known them to be the ultimate evil in the universe for almost forty years now and it is time to see that they are not just mindless drone or clones killing and enslaving the galaxy for the whims of the old and rich. There are people out there who chose the side for their own reasons and are not just following orders. To some, including our protagonist here, the Emperor was their leader that they believed in and served without needing to be subjugated or any other horrible reasons. This can be seen a bit more in the following trailer here for Star Wars Battlefront II.
Star Wars Battlefront II — Single Player Trailer
The new single-player campaign in Star Wars Battlefront II is an original story set after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. It’s no secret that Iden Versio and Inferno Squad will be crossing paths with some of the galaxy’s most renowned characters, but they’ll also be encountering elements that are originally from other Star Wars stories. There are multiple mediums, comics, novels, television, films, games, and more, that tell new or unique stories that take place within the Star Wars universe. Star Wars Battlefront II helps enrich the universe by telling a previously untold story that is able to build upon what has already been established.
You’ll take on the role of Iden Versio, (played by Janina Gavankar), Commander of Imperial special forces unit Inferno Squad. Alongside her squadmates Del Meeko (T.J. Ramini) and Gideon Hask (Paul Blackthorne), Iden struggles to maintain order in a galaxy that seems to be crumbling all around her.
I will say that unless DICE is pulling some wool over our eyes with the story they have shown for Star Wars Battlefront II so far, this could be one of the more interesting stories to be told in a while for the franchise. I am hoping there will NOT be some huge reveal that Versio is playing a role to get in good with the Empire for the Rebellion; mainly because both sides of the conflict really need to be told and this seems like a great way to do it. Given that EA is still clutching the gaming rights for Star Wars it would seem likely this would be the case, but maybe they will take the risk and let us see that the other side of the conflict has people out there doing what they believe is right and the “good” side can be seen as the “bad” side for once.
What do you think of this new bit of the story for Star Wars Battlefront II that we have here? Do you agree that it looks like they are setting up a great “other side of the conflict” kind of story here or will they go back to playing it safe and have Versio be a spy of some sorts? Does it feel weird to you to see some not thinking the Empire is a bad thing or should they always be the villains out there and no “shade of grey” mixed in out there? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. For more on Star Wars Battlefront II in any way though, be sure to keep checking in on the site here as we will have it all.
