The Lamplighters League Lets Us Glimpse Behind The Scenery This October

The Lamplighters League

The Lamplighters League is setting out to save the world this October with the full release for The Lamplighters League

In the madness of all of the other news flowing out there in the gaming space, we almost missed the announcement that we now know when The Lamplighters League will be hitting the PC and Xbox Series X|S. This feels like it should have been something that Harebrained Schemes should have had out there in the mix of some of the bigger streams trying to promote the number of titles coming to specific platforms, but this one seems to have flown under the radar. Ironically, kind of the deal that The Lamplighters League is all about, though not good for sales. That is why we are here to offer up the release date for the game. Get everything ready as it will be hitting us all on October 3rd of 2023. A little bit longer but not all that much longer.

If you have missed out on the little bits we have had for The Lamplighters League, this is a 1930s pulp adventure with some solid-looking RTS mechanics mixed in. For those that need a comparison, think something along the lines of The Mummy or Indiana Jones with some XCOM style of gameplay. Obviously, you can see a bit of that in motion with the trailer that came along for the release date announcement for The Lamplighters League. All of that is what caught my eye and should catch yours if you are into RTS games or the general setting of it all. Even if we are just going to be playing the best of the worst out there in this one. That’s the joke…

The Lamplighters League — Release Date

Paradox Interactive and developer Harebrained Schemes announced that The Lamplighters League And The Tower At The End Of The World, the globetrotting tactical turn-based strategy game, will launch on October 3, 2023, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Paradox and Harebrained Schemes also revealed the Deluxe Edition, featuring an additional playable character.

With the Deluxe Edition, players can recruit the mysterious Nocturne, a macabre spectrophysicist who was marooned in an alternate dimension, and returned forever altered. Nocturne manipulates her body’s electric field to inflict Shock Damage on her enemies while also supercharging her cutting-edge suit to enhance her abilities.

The Lamplighters League is an original pulp adventure set in an alternate 1930s, challenging players to use a mix of real-time infiltration, tactical turn-based combat, and team management to thwart the plans of the Banished Court, a tyrannical cult on the cusp of world domination. To stop the Banished Court in its tracks, players must:

  • Recruit The Best Of The Worst: Scour the globe to recruit outlaws and outcasts before the Banished Court catches them first. Learn their stories and the world they inhabit by taking them on tactical missions.
  • Play Dirty: Each misfit brings a signature style to the fight through unique moves that can turn the tide of combat. Sneak past enemies in real-time infiltration gameplay, pick off stragglers quietly, or strategically position your squad to get the upper hand. Every mission earns the team resources and advances each character’s unique ability.
  • Leave No Stone Unturned: Explore a variety of thrilling locales, from dockyards and deserts to jungles both urban and wild. With dynamic map generation, no two missions unfold the same. Analyze the battlefield to see what enemies, items, and cover are in the area to plan your attack.

For The Lamplighters League, there will be a Deluxe Edition of the game in the mix if you want to toss out a few more bits of coin to pick it up. This other version does come with the game as a base and also offers up a mysterious recruit named Nocturne that we can add to the mix. She is a spectrophysicist who can manipulate her electric field and offer up some shocking damage in that way. A nice little extra for a little more of the cost. Although, I am curious to see if The Lamplighters League will just add Nocturne in down the line and thus make it just an early access for the character instead of something truly exclusive for those that pay a little bit more for the game. I guess we will see.

Did you catch the announcement for The Lamplighters League release date before now or did you forget that the game was even on the way? Is it odd to only offer up a special character for the increased price or will Nocturne be truly unique only for those that pick up that edition? Will we see more characters added in down the line or will that all just be based on how well the game performs in general? Head down to the comment section and then feel free to discuss all of this and more. We are keeping a close eye on The Lamplighters League now, so be sure to keep checking back in here for all of those updates and everything else we can find that fell through the cracks.
