The Midnight Walk Gears Us Up For A Sculpted Little Experience

The Midnight Walk

Get ready to take a Midnight Walk in VR with a new and dark title revealed called The Midnight Walk

It feels like it has been a while since Claymation was all the rage out there in our media and now we get a new taste for it all with the reveal for The Midnight Walk. Not just with a new bit of promotion for the game, but a look at the art style that MoonHood is going for with the game and how Fast Travel Games is looking to bring it all to the PS5, PSVR 2, PC, and other VR settings out there down the line. Even if the core of The Midnight Walk does look and feel like a few other titles we have had to experience in the past, there is a bit of a twist that this new reveal does not make apparent from the jump. So, if you are in for a new dark ride in a virtual space, get those headsets ready and let us see how this one is going to further stand out for us all.

If you have not been able to see it all by now, The Midnight Walk is leaning into that style of art that was popular a long while ago to help tell this dark tale we will be platforming around in. The bigger twist is that all of the clay we see here is not just a digital recreation but scans of things built in real-world clay and scanned in for the game. A little bit of overkill to get a specific look, but that is some dedication to the craft. The dedication that we will also have in The Midnight Walk as we help the Burnt One and Potboy navigate the world and the horrible things hidden within it. All while playing with some light and dark mechanics and seeing how well the flat-screen version and the VR versions of the game play with each other. It looks like that will be a few of the options we will get when playing the game. That is all that we have out there for it so far, beyond the fun little trailer below. Have a look and see how the art is coming to life in this one and if it will be worth our time and money.

A Grim & Beautiful Handcrafted World

Everything you see in The Midnight Walk, from the drooling snarl of monsters to the bristling tree tops that line the journey was first sculpted in clay and then 3D scanned to a meticulous level of detail. The result is a uniquely layered fantasy world with an artistic imprint, all realized in breathtaking stop motion. Grab a gamepad, jump into the unknown, or step into the endless night in VR.

Do you like the look and feel of The Midnight Walk with the Claymation or do you think they should have saved their time and just done it all digitally from the start? Will this feel like another Little Nightmares kind of game when all is said and done or does the art style just make it feel like it is going to be a game like that? How easy will it be to transition from playing with the flat-screen to playing in VR or will we have to choose from the start and stick to it during the entire game? Creep on down to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else we have to offer up for you out there. We will keep the ball rolling with updates for The Midnight Walk as we get more, so please keep on checking in for that. It does feel like this one could be a slow burn to get out there with the style but if done right, it could be a massive bit of fun for us all to have and talk about well into the future.
