The Nilfgaard Are On Their Way Into Gwent: The Witcher Card Game

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game

A new content update for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game’s beta is coming next week and will bring the Nilfgaard faction to Gwent in the process

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game may still be in a closed beta setting here but it looks like the updates for the game’s content will not be missing out on major things while we are getting prepped for the full release. As it looks, we will be seeing yet another faction coming to the game from CD Projekt RED here soon just as was promised and mentioned a few times in the past. Yes, this means that the Nilfgaard are finally getting the faction play in Gwent that fans have been asking for since well before the beta went live. Wouldn’t you know it too, it looks like this content update is coming to the game here on February 6th for all of those in the closed beta to enjoy and find out if it is a broken faction or not. The whole point of it all.

When it comes to the Nilfgaard in Gwent here, it looks like the faction will bring with it not only a plethora of new cards to work with but also some new gameplay mechanics as well. The details are still sparse on just exactly what will come but as of now we see that there will be mechanics to reveal opponents cards in their hands, we’ll be able to control the order of our own decks, and some others based on trickery with disloyal units. I’m guessing that we will be able to turn opponents units against them and to add to our own side when all is said and done, but that is the long and short of what we have in the latest update for Gwent here. Can’t complain yet; unless you are not in on the beta still for some reason.

Also, if you need yet another refresher on how to play Gwent here, there is also a new video to look at that breaks it all down in a minute or so for your ingestion. Nothing to link to the news of the new faction really but it is a nice fun visual aid to look at if you are still new to all of this by some rare chance.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game — A Round Of Gwent In 60 Seconds

Part of a major content update for the game, Nilfgaard introduces a playstyle focused on maintaining control over the battlefield. The faction equips players with a set of new gameplay mechanics such as revealing cards in the opponent’s hand, controlling the order of cards in player decks, and trickery based on the use of disloyal units.

The update expands the number of cards available in the game by over 60 — new additions also include faction-specific cards for Northern Realms, Scoia’tael, Skellige and Monsters, as well as neutral cards usable by every faction.

Was the Nilfgaard faction the one you’ve been waiting to get added into Gwent or will it be another bane on your gameplay choices? Do you think that the disloyal units boils down to turning your opponent’s cards against them or do you think it could means something completely different here? How much control over our deck and our opponent’s will the new faction give us? Let us know all of your thoughts on this down in the comments and feel free to discuss as well. As more on Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is shown off or revealed, beta or not, we will have it here for you. Be sure to keep checking back in to the site to make sure you are kept well-informed on all of it in the coming days.
