The PlayStation Experience Is Coming Back & To A New Location

Sony has announced that the PlayStation Experience will be happening again only this time the PlayStation Experience will be in San Francisco

Given the success of last year’s PlayStation Experience it would be a bit daft to think that it wouldn’t be making a huge comeback this year. For the uneducated this would be Sony’s huge PlayStation “Fan Fest” of sorts to show off all their new and current IPs, hardware, and ideas coming to their platforms. Seeing as they didn’t make a big push for anything sans the Morpheus at E3 and other conventions we can most likely expect the PlayStation Experience to only show off items for the PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and the like but who knows? Maybe Sony will have some kind of huge surprise just for this event here and no one but they know at this time.

Now before you go off and start to make your travel plans for the US’s playground, Las Vegas, NV, as the PlayStation Experience was held there last year; it looks like it will be heading up to northern California here in 2015. This year the PlayStation Experience will be in San Francisco and held on December 5th and 6th at the Moscone Center. The reason for the change makes little sense to me but according to the PS Blog it looks like cost may have played a bit of a part in it. The site claims for the fans but I am sure that it is also for the companies involved in some way as well.

PlayStation Experience — 2015 Is Coming

How is the cost mitigated for the fans of the PlayStation Experience? Well it looks like the ticket prices have been reduced down to $60 if you take part in the early bird registration. Not only there but also it looks like if you miss the chance to get in early before September 20th the price for both days will still only be $75 to go. That’s roughly $15 cheaper than last year as long as you are okay with paying the higher prices for rooms and everything else out in San Francisco. Even with the discounted rates that Sony has been able to secure for the PlayStation Experience at a few of the surrounding hotels out there.

To entice all of us further into going to this year’s PlayStation Experience is looks like Capcom will be hosting the Street Fighter world championships, known as the Capcom Cup, on the Sunday of the event. This will be free for all PlayStation Experience attendees to enjoy on December 6th but there is also a “premium package” that you can purchase with your passes that will give you premium seating for the Capcom Cup, a Capcom goodie bag, and exclusive access to the Capcom Cup after party. That is currently running for a $75 add-on to the PlayStation Experience tickets but you can purchase them all at the same time.

As far as what to expect at the PlayStation Experience; those details are still to be defined. This also goes to what panels, developers, and titles will be on the floor to play at the PlayStation Experience. I think it will be safe to assume any and all PlayStation titles that have not launched yet but who knows? The only real detail given is that it is strongly suggested to register for the PlayStation Experience with your PSN Id (why would you not?) as there is some kind of bonus to be revealed for doing just that. Maybe a PS Plus extension or exclusive Trophy for your trophy card? I guess we’ll all have to wait and see.

Do you think you’ll be attending the PlayStation Experience this year? Does it make more sense to you that it is being held in San Francisco this year? Do you think this marks the PlayStation Experience as being a mobile convention to let more fans experience it? What do you want to see on the floor of the PlayStation Experience? What do you think we need to register our PSN Ids for? Let us know all of your thoughts on this down in the comments and discuss. We’ll have more on the PlayStation Experience as it is revealed so be sure to keep checking in and checking in often to stay completely up on all the news and updates.
