The Resident Evil 2 Remake Throwing In Some Ghost Survivors Post-Launch

During a launch event for the Resident Evil 2 Remake it was announced that we would be seeing a new mode mixed in as well as some classic Resident Evil 2 costumes

With just a few days out from launching here in the NA region, we have a new update coming to the Resident Evil 2 Remake to bring us even more replay factor for the game. Given time zones and other factors, the game is out in Japan and Capcom held a nice long live event to show off the game and bring us these announcements. Of course, this could all just be for the Japanese market but I am sure that we will see this new Ghost Survivors mode for the other version of Resident Evil 2 out there. Oh, that would be the name of this new mode that is coming at a later date as a free bit of DLC. Among some of the other updates.

You can see the whole stream down below, but it is all in Japanese and we know not all of you can speak it so here are the main highlights. As mentioned, the Resident Evil 2 Remake will be getting this new mode that will come in three different segments over time. It will add a new roguelike element to the game that will have you playing as some of the supporting cast and earning in-game currency to spend on things for the mode. None of which will be part of a microtransaction scheme but based on your skill in Resident Evil 2. To what end? We will have to wait and see for all of that but do know that it is coming after launch here.

On top of that, we could also be seeing some of the classic character models from Resident Evil 2 make it in for free as well. This would be some costumes for Leon and Clair that bring back the blocking look of the original game but to be used in the new version. I state that it may come as it has only been confirmed for the Japanese market on March 22^nd as of this writing. That is not to say that it will not go global but I did not want to get hopes up for those who want to play the Resident Evil 2 Remake with the skins that were ditched for this version. It is a weird thing to want new versions of the classics only to play them with the classic looks…
