The VR Zombie Apocalypse Starts With Arizona Sunshine

Arizona Sunshine

Arizona Sunshine has been announced and is looking to bring us all into our first major zombie survival experience utilizing VR technology

It had to come sometime and just like the inevitable zombie apocalypse we all are hoping for Arizona Sunshine is doing just that only in a virtual way. More virtual than any of the other zombie outbreak titles in the past as Arizona Sunshine is utilizing SteamVR on the HTC Vive. Yes it is going to be a PC zombie game where you will have to survive being in the mix of things and not safely on your couch. Well at least not AS safely on your couch as Arizona Sunshine is still a video game and not a true zombie outbreak.

For a quick breakdown of what Arizona Sunshine is let’s go right to what the developer, Vertigo Games and Jaywalkers Interactive, have to say for the description of the game.

In Arizona Sunshine, you’ve been driving around for god knows how long when you hear a flash of a human voice on the radio, confirming your belief that there are still survivors out in the blistering heat of the post-apocalyptic remains of the Grand Canyon state. Arizona Sunshine poses a two-fold battle for survival in a VR zombie apocalypse in which players need to navigate the hordes of zombies coming for their brains as well as the scorching heat that they will come to hate in their search for human contact.

Arizona Sunshine is a VR shooter built and optimized for room-scale VR from the ground up. Step into the midst of a zombie apocalypse as if you were really there, and defend yourself against enemies close enough to touch. A custom-built physical animation system makes striking your undead enemies more thrilling and satisfying than ever before.

So not only do we have to worry about the undead in Arizona Sunshine but the heat as well? Looks like all of that desert living I’ve racked up here is going to come in hand to survive this virtual world. At least once all of those VR helmets become nice and affordable for all to experience. I honestly think that is going to be one of the major hold ups for Arizona Sunshine and other games like to be successful but at least people are trying. Hopefully they will succeed and we can have a new-ish era of survival games flowing out there.

Now is the time for you to share your thoughts on Arizona Sunshine as well. Do you think it looks like it could be a smash hit for those with the hardware or maybe a bit before its time? How about all of those other games that will follow in the footsteps to bring us more realistic and interactive games into our homes? I know I’ll be keeping an eye on Arizona Sunshine and will update everyone as things flow in. Until then keep it here and talking in the comments about what you just saw and are hopeful for.
