The Walking Dead: A New Frontier Adds Another Comic Character In The Mix

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier

The launch trailer for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier has been placed out there and it shows more of The Walking Dead’s characters are going to crossover

This week marked the break of the TV version of The Walking Dead and next week we get to go back into the world with The Walking Dead: A New Frontier‘s first two episodes of the season. It’s almost as if Telltale Games planned all of this out to happen this way. Granted this episodic version will be spread out over months instead of weeks after the initial debut on December 20th but that doesn’t mean that fans won’t keep craving it. Especially after you see the latest trailer for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier and see that it is going to include at least one more fan-favorite character from the show and comics. Jesus is coming yet again…

Yes, we will get to meet and travel alongside Jesus in at least one of the two episodes that we will be getting next Tuesday. I’m not talking the mythological being from Christian lore, but the character that has made waves in The Walking Dead for some time now and a key player in keeping some of the newly found communities thriving and working together. How he will act out in the game here looks about the same although the groups look to be drastically different. Unless this is Telltale building up to bring the video game in complete alignment to the comics at some point. Not too out there given how it all began and the locations of everything, but it might limit some of the creative juices if they bind with the comics more than a few cameos.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier — Ties That Bind

When family is all you have left… how far will you go to protect it? Years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to protect his family, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last.

What I do find interesting here is that Clementine speaks of the new group she was with or is fighting here in a way that sounds a lot like The Saviors from The Walking Dead proper. Of course they are not named that here but the way it sounds is a lot like the tactics and mentality we’ve seen in all of the other forms they have popped up so far. Could this have been the group she joined up within a few of the different endings of the last season of The Walking Dead? It’s possible and a way for Telltale Games to move us past the endings there. They could give us a solid recap on why they are so messed up that Clementine ran off from them and now they are the “big bad” in this season.

It’s also interesting to see the A.J. branding on her hand in this little clip. Does this indicate that maybe the baby died at some point or that branch of the past season will carry over? It would make playing The Walking Dead: A New Frontier a bit easier in terms of gameplay and then add in a lot of terrific story in the back end. Of course this could all just bee another misleading shot from the episode to make us think this way and it’s nothing more than when a parent gets their child’s name tattooed on them out of love even though they are still alive. I guess we’ll find out here in just about a week when The Walking Dead: A New Frontier kicks off and hopefully stays strong.

So, do you think that The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is aiming to bring the video game story into direct contact and pacing as the comics as the mini-series did from before? Do you think that this new group will run and act like another group we’ve come to love/hate over time? Do you think that baby A.J. is still alive or will he have been killed off and thus the driving goal for Clem in this season? Let us know all of your thoughts on this and feel free to discuss down in the comments. As more on The Walking Dead: A New Frontier comes out, we will have it here for you. Be sure to stick right here as I am sure that you will want to stay completely up to date on all of it.
