There Will Be Some Full-Length Films In Where Dolls Hang

Where Dolls Hang

A new feature for Where Dolls Hang is announced, with full-length films finding their way into Where Dolls Hang

When it comes to unique settings, Where Dolls Hang does seem to have one of them for our horror experience. That would be a place inspired by the real-life Island of Dolls that we have out there. When it comes to unique game features, it looks as if Steelkrill Studio is aiming to give us something that we might never have expected to see in a horror video game. That being said, we will be able to watch full-length horror films in Where Dolls Hang. Not some that were made just for this PC title, but full films that are in the public domain and won’t cause any legal issues. Films that most horror fans have already seen, but it will be what takes place instead of the usual horror Easter Eggs these games usually have.

I’ll fully admit that this feels like a weird thing to add in, but it is a new feature that Where Dolls Hang is going to have. These will be various VHS tapes scattered around the island as we go about our investigation, but then can drop into a player if we need to take a break. The first title shown, with many more to come, is Night Of The Living Dead from 1968. A title that feels fitting for Where Dolls Hang, but one that I’m sure most horror fans have already seen. It is a legendary movie out there. One that, if you find the VHS tape, will then be able to sit back and watch it in the video game to see it all on a very small screen. Is it a feature that we want? Probably not. Is it one that we’ll all play around with? I mean, why not if we have the chance to see it all? Have a look to see just how it is going to feel to see all of this in the game when it does finally launch out there.

Where Dolls Hang — Watch Full-Length Movies

Steelkrill Studio has revealed a unique feature coming to its upcoming psychological survival horror game inspired by Mexican Folklore and a real-life location, Where Dolls Hang.

Players will be able to find and watch complete feature-length, 1-hour-long horror films directly inside the game world.

Unlike traditional survival horror experiences, Where Dolls Hang puts players in the role of a detective. Players must investigate missing person cases by examining bodies, collecting clues, placing evidence markers, and documenting crime scenes with an in-game camera, all while surviving the dangers lurking within the woods.

Set in Mexico and inspired by the country’s folklore and the real-life Island of Dolls (Isla de las Muñecas), Where Dolls Hang blends psychological horror, survival, exploration, and detective investigation. While searching both the forest and your home, players can stumble upon working televisions and projectors that play full public-domain horror films from beginning to end. Rather than short clips or Easter eggs, these are complete movies that players can sit down and watch if they choose. Among the featured films is the iconic 1968 zombie classic Night of the Living Dead, with additional public-domain horror films hidden throughout the world.

Described as a blend of The Forest, Outlast, P.T. and Silent Hill, Where Dolls Hang combines survival mechanics, exploration, and crafting with psychological horror and a unique forensic investigation system rarely seen in the genre.

Features:

  • Watch Full-Length Horror Movies – Discover complete public-domain horror films that can be watched from start to finish inside the game.
  • Classic Horror Included – Watch legendary films like Night of the Living Dead without leaving the game world.
  • Psychological Survival Horror – Explore a haunting world inspired by Mexico’s folklore and the real-life Island of Dolls.
  • Detective Investigation Gameplay – Examine bodies, collect clues, document crime scenes, and uncover the truth behind a series of disappearances.
  • Survival & Exploration – Travel between cursed islands by boat, gather resources, craft tools, and survive an ever-present supernatural threat.
