Things Are Getting A Bit Too Real For Sifu

Sifu

Sifu has a new live-action short out that hints at a few more things we might get in Sifu

Only a few more sleeps until we can load up Sifu on the PS4, PS5, or PC and then become the next big martial arts star out there. At least as it comes to our video games here. Sloclap has done a great job making sure it is looking and feeling like a beat-em-up title while placing in some interesting Rogue-like mechanics in too. Each time we are brought down in Sifu, we do get better but at the cost of the character’s age in the game. Sooner or later he will be too old to be able to carry on the fight. Something that is highlighted just a bit more with the latest we have for the game with a live-action short. All of which looks to hold something deeper in it if we want to dig right in.

Normally, something like this should be seen as just a bit of fluff to help with marketing. I am sure that is the case, as we are talking about Sifu again just before the February 8th release. All of which with a new and well-choreographed sequence that highlights the combat we will have in the game. It may all be in live-action, but it is all created and adapted from what the developer has in the game. Some of it we can see from the basic gameplay and some of it feels like it is something new to latch onto for Sifu. Like the fact that some of the enemies also have some level of mystical ability in the mix. So, this might not be just a basic martial arts title after all and offer up a bit more to those wanting a bit more.

Another big highlight to take away from this, is that it does show off how they live, die, repeat gameplay will thematically feel in Sifu. Mechanically, we will age a bit and be able to buy skills and moves to use when we go back into the fight. Here it is shown that it is more about the character replaying the scene in their head and learning from the mistakes. All while shocking those around him when he stands back up a little older and better equipped. Not all video games do a good job of showing that in the gameplay and now I am a bit more excited to experience Sifu here in the coming week. Have a look and see what I am talking about just a bit lower down.

Sifu — Live Action Short Adaptation

Sifu developer Sloclap partnered with director Christopher Clark Cowan to create a live-action short film adaptation of the upcoming third-person martial arts action game for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC (via the Epic Games Store). Sifu will be released on February 8.

Did you enjoy the live-action video we have for Sifu or do you think it is just fluff to help sell the game better? Do you think that we will have more mystical enemies in the game or is that a bit of artistic license here and nothing more? How do you feel about the death mechanic and how it is displayed here? Feel free to sound off in the comments and then discuss away. If we have more to share for Sifu, we will certainly share it all here. Please keep checking back in for all of that and much more as we keep repeating the same days over and over.
