Things Get Ominous As Final Fantasy XV Has Gone Gold…But In A Good Way

Final Fantasy XV

It looks like Final Fantasy XV has gone gold and we get a new trailer for Final Fantasy XV as well as some intel on the upcoming DLC

The news has finally come and Final Fantasy XV is now 100% set to release on November 29th for the PS4 and Xbox One. No more delays and Square Enix has given us the solid date now so the long wait is almost over. A few more weeks and we all will have Final Fantasy XV in our hands and see just how the game has truly evolved over the incredibly long development cycle that took it from Versus XIII to where we are now. Let the excitement start to flow in the streets…maybe that was a poor choice of words…

To celebrate the announcement of the gold status, we have been given a few things to help ease the waiting period. The first item up is a new fully CG trailer for Final Fantasy XV titled ‘Omen’. Notice I said CG trailer there as this has also been put together by the same people who did Kingsglaive. None the less, we get to see the ‘omen’ that King Regis has for his son Noctis and just what that could all mean. I see a few interesting things mixed in here which makes me hopeful for a Hades summon again but this is all promotional stuff so it could be nothing more than a look at some of the hardships we’ll have to endure in Final Fantasy XV‘s story.

Final Fantasy XV — Omen

A rapidly shifting world, enemies that appear endlessly, gradual loss of abilities…

And a madness that brings harm to the beloved fiancé.

This short movie, which can only be described as a nightmare for the struggling Noctis, is a collaboration between Final Fantasy XV and Digic Pictures, the world renown 3D animation studio that also took part in the creation of Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV.

This beautiful yet violent motion picture inspired by the world and story of Final Fantasy depicts an “omen” for Noctis’ father, King Regis, of a catastrophic future that must be avoided.

In addition to the above trailer and gold status announcement, Square Enix has also given us a few details on the upcoming DLC that will be part of the $24.99 USD Season Pass for Final Fantasy XV. All of which will be available à la carte as well. What we do have here though is it looks like the ‘episodes’ listed from before are kind of that as we will get mini-missions that focus on one of the other characters helping Noctis along the way. Those being Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto. Each will show us new areas and monsters not seen in the full game yet and will give us a few extra rewards that will carry over. Mostly weapons and XP from the sounds of it all.

But wait, there’s more. After all of those episodes are released we will be seeing another bit of DLC, also part of the Season Pass, called Comrades. This will introduce a new online co-op mode for players so they can team up with their friends and each can take on a role of the boy band to go slaying around Final Fantasy XV‘s vast world. There is no word on if this would be available for players to play through the whole game in this co-op mode or if it will be only for set sections and missions, but none the less it is going to be a thing. Yes, there will be more multiplayer in our Final Fantasy games that are not the set MMO titles out there. I’m not sure how I feel about this just yet.

The main focus of the Season Pass is three original episodes that take place during the events of Final Fantasy XV. Each episode allows players to take control of one of Noctis’ comrades in all-new adventures that offer unique play styles tailored to each character. Players can explore previously unseen areas filled with new monsters, and even obtain weapons that can later be used in the main game. Episode Gladiolus is the first new character adventure to arrive, and will be followed by Episode Ignis and Episode Prompto. Each episode will be available for purchase individually.

Following the release of the character episodes, Comrades—an expansion pack for Final Fantasy XV—will introduce a brand-new online co-op mode for up to four players which features intense battles allowing players to take full control of Noctis, Gladio, Prompto and Ignis as a group. Comrades will be available for separate purchase, and is also included in the Season Pass.

Has your excitement for Final Fantasy XV hit an all-time high now or is it still a month too early to tell? What did you think of the new CG trailer here and do you think that some of the creatures shown will have an impact on the final game? How do you feel about the DLC that’s been announced and do you like the idea of more multiplayer in the game here? Let us know what you are thinking and feel free to discuss in the comments below. For all things Final Fantasy you’ll want to be sure to stick around here as we’ll keep all of the news flowing out there as Square Enix feels the need to give it out.
