Travelling Around In Final Fantasy XV Can Be Fun & Dangerous

Final Fantasy XV

A few new tidbits of Final Fantasy XV news have popped up just before E3 and they detail out Final Fantasy XV travel systems among other things

We are just over a week out from E3 and it looks like there was a bit more on Final Fantasy XV just dropped to lead up to another huge showing of the game. It looks like Square Enix hosted another Active Time Report recently where some questions were asked and left open until E3 but the developer’s did hop on a few items to give us a little more just before. Most of which has to deal with how open of a world Final Fantasy XV will be and just how some of the travelling in the game could be more dangerous then free roaming around and fighting monsters.

One of the larger points here for Final Fantasy XV is the fact that, like many of the other titles, the world won’t be as open as we thought from the start of the game. Pretty much, as you hopefully assumed, there will be key events and location in the game that we will have to go to and adventure in before locations open up. Once that is done and barring any other world events those locations will be available to go to and adventure through but the world will be tied to the story in a way and we’ll be limited out of the gate. Not too surprising as it is the standard really.

It also looks like Chocobos will be “upgraded” in Final Fantasy XV through feeding them different foods and the like. These will increase things like speed and stamina for the following day. Given the new gameplay for the Chocobos that was also released I think it will be safe to bet that things like attacking and other combat bonuses will be mixed in but don’t hold me to that.

Along with the Chocobos we will also have access to the car as we all know. Not surprising at all is the fact that it will be a faster way to travel around the world of Final Fantasy XV outside of the fast travel locations you set up by camping. What is interesting is that once you get to a point where the car flies it is possible to crash and get a game over screen if you are not careful. There will be some form of mechanics for takeoff and landing with the landing being just a bit more difficult. Why they would have this in there is beyond me; outside of just adding something difficult to the game.

Final Fantasy XV is scheduled for release on September 30th for the PS4 and Xbox One. Square Enix is planning some extra reveals for gameplay and visual explanations out at E3 here in a short time but if you want to have a look at the most recent Active Time Report it has been included just below for your ease.
