Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons
A long look at Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is here, and we get to see some true gameplay for our Warlock character
It looks as if someone out there made a great pact with a demon during gamescom this year, as we have a whole lot of new gameplay to look at for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons. We still have to wait until 2027 to get to experience it on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC ourselves, but Invoke Studios has been compelled by that pact to give us just what all of us nerds have been longing for. So, get ready to tap into some dark and raw magic out there, with the action RPG style of gameplay that Warlock is going to unleash upon us all. Along with so many other nods and fun bits that link the whole IP right back to the Dungeons & Dragons roots. Enough dancing around it all, let’s spill some blood and have a look at the darkness on the way out there now.
Here in the new footage for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, we get to see as Kaatri makes the original pact with her patron Tasha to get the dark powers to take into the lands. Just as it is in the tabletop game, this is not specifically just to cause evil in the world, but to have some power to potentially shape the world in a specific way. The way here, at least for Kaatri, looks to be one of just pure adventuring and exploring the world. Not just in the traditional walking around kind of way, but through using various spells, rituals, and melee combat to help defeat all of the enemies that are roaming the lands out there. Some of them, our Warlock doesn’t look to be able to handle right away, and we’ll have a shadow step kind of ability to bypass or set up a counterattack. Not to mention, it also looks as if some of the dark powers will have us manipulating the environments to cause more damage to our foes. Not a terrible bit of fun to see, which you can go ahead and look at just further down the page here.
Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons — Gameplay Reveal
The Warlock gameplay reveal gives players an extended look at the upcoming game, starting off by revealing a brand-new character: Tasha. Maggie Robertson plays the role of Tasha, who acts as Kaatri’s patron and source of power. Tasha teaches Kaatri to sense Raw Magic, power hidden throughout Darkon that lets her expand and transform her magical ability.
From there, the reveal brings Warlock’s core promise to life, showing how magic allows players to read, reshape, and ultimately master the world around them. Kaatri turns the environment, enemy positioning, and even the weather into tactical opportunities, chaining spells together before capitalizing with her skill as a seasoned weapons master. The result is a fluid, systems-driven approach to exploration and combat, where observation and experimentation can uncover new paths, create unexpected solutions, and produce spectacular combinations.
Warlock is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and is scheduled to release in 2027.
Are you excited to see where Warlock is going to take us after all of this new footage? How often will we get to perform the rituals on the battlefields as we saw above? Will there be many more environmental gameplay elements beyond using the basics of water, fire, and lightning that we just had? Will there be a way to fight some of the bigger monsters from the start of the game, or will we need to sneak past many of them until we unlock bigger and darker powers? Let’s have that discussion about all of this in the comment section down below. I’m so excited to see where we are going with Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, so expect there to be a lot more for the game on the site. We’ll also have it all to share on our socials, so please follow all of those as well. Then you’ll be certain to never miss any of the fun updates that we might have for all of the pop culture fun around here.
