Werewolf: The Apocalypse — Heart Of The Forest

The next developer diary for Werewolf: The Apocalypse — Heart Of The Forest explains how close to the Werewolf tabletop experience we might get

Balancing the freedom of choice in Werewolf: The Apocalypse — Heart Of The Forest is going to be a huge task to tackle based on what we normally get in the tabletop version of the IP. This is always a tough thing to bring into the digital space based on games that generally are only limited by the imagination of the player. It is usually why we only see titles based on these kinds of IPs that give us a direct path to go down instead of a true branching one that is the norm. Different Tales seem to understand this and in the latest developer diary gives us an explanation on how they are trying to get that balance in this Werewolf game. It is the one that is closer to a tabletop game as of late.

The short answer to all of this is by offering up only a select few choices instead of the broad scope a Werewolf player might want to make. Kind of how it goes in general and with a few different options that may lead to different ends to the story. How different of an ending is still yet to be determined, but I have a feeling it will also be a predestined one and the choices will only have some level of impact. It would be nice to see if we could shift from being a hero to a villain in the game; this is something I normally do in World Of Darkness games. Granted, Werewolf: The Apocalypse generally does not have that kind of a black and white outlook, but all the shades of grey will not be possible in a digital experience like this one.
