Witchfire Has A Ghost Galleon Out There With Other Updates Now

Witchfire

A new update for Witchfire has been dropped out there that gives us so much more to play with in Witchfire

The updates keep on coming for Witchfire with the latest being one of the biggest ones since the game hit Early Access. If there is one thing that The Astronauts seem to be doing right, it is keeping this development going and updating as frequently as they can for this PC title. Even if that means that certain parts of Witchfire had to be retooled a bit and a whole lot of other things added in for fun. Along with a nice and big Ghost Galleon out there. Hence where the naming came for this one as many of the other big updates and changes do not have much to do with that. Again, all in a great way to keep this title growing and evolving with the ability to download this new update as soon as you are done reading all of this.

There is quite a bit to go over for this new update for Witchfire, as it not only adds in three new calamities for us, but six new classes, five new weapons, four new spells, ten more enemies, and a lot more. Not to mention the fact that the team redesigned the calamity system and how we will progress through it all. All based on the feedback that the Early Access players have given the team. Also to make sure that Witchfire feels fresh and is slowly becoming the title that we all want. There is still a bit of time before it will be finished, so we will most definitely see a whole lot more of these updates and changes as we carry on. Here is a quick look at some of the new features but you can just add it all right into your game now and experience it all live. Unless you are holding out for the final drop of the game like some of us out there.

Witchfire — Ghost Galleon Update

The Astronauts launched the first major feature update for their dark fantasy first-person shooter, Witchfire. The Ghost Galleon Update includes a host of new content, including player classes, fearsome foes, new events, weapons, and spells for the preyer’s arsenal, as well as a shop vendor offering novel items. The update’s name refers to a newly minted Calamity event: a spectral ship infested with demonic minions of the Witch.

Alongside the new features available in the patch, The Astronauts team has implemented careful redesigns of Witchfire’s level progression and Calamity systems, based on Early Access feedback. Players will begin the game with Souls-style classes, granting boosts to certain stats and unique gear. Classes include Slayer, Berserker, Hunter, Shadow, Saint, and Penitent — this final class is for Witchfire veterans seeking an extra challenge. A new feature, called Gnosis, will allow players to “over-level” (slightly) without a corresponding uptick in enemy difficulty. Gnosis is the preyer’s understanding of dark magic. As this occult knowledge expands, players gain power and uncover hidden paths and events in the game. The update also adds a Calamity Meter on the HUD, which calls attention to player actions (and missteps) that make Calamities more likely.

The redesigns in the Ghost Galleon Update aim to ensure players have agency and understanding of gameplay mechanisms, while still maintaining the intense challenge at Witchfire’s core.

Content available in the mammoth Witchfire patch includes:

  • 3 New Calamities (including the Ghost Galleon)
  • New Activity: Vault Raiding
  • 6 New Classes
  • 5 New Weapons
  • 4 New Spells (plus 4 redesigned spells)
  • New Shop Vendor
  • 7 New Magical Items (fetishes, rings, relics)
  • 10 New or Variant Enemies
  • 5 New Events
  • 6 New Traps
  • Calamity Redesign
  • Gnostic Knowledge & Level Progression
  • Quality of Life Updates & Bug Fixes
  • And more…

Even if it is still an Early Access title out there, I am glad to see that things have not slowed down at all for Witchfire. Also that the team is making sure to rework things that players are not having fun with as well as the team not liking either. All of that and taking the time to add a whole lot of other new things into the mix to enjoy along with these massive changes. It is starting to feel like Witchfire is shaping into something so many wanted. If only we could see it hit more platforms than just the one we have announced so far. Maybe once we get to the end of the Early Access and they are able to play around with porting it out to other platforms. We will have to wait and see…

Where are you at in the Early Access of Witchfire and have you made use of the new systems? How do you feel about the classes and the Souls-like gameplay getting added in further? How many more massive updates will we see before we get close to a final release date? Head down to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else that we have to share out there in the world. I know we will have a lot more for Witchfire, so please keep on checking back here for all of those updates and the many others we have still in the works. Just like this game, the industry is an always-changing beast out there. All for the better I would like to think.
