You Are Not Hallucinating With The New Gameplay For The Alters

The Alters

Even more gameplay for The Alters is out there and we can see more of how nurture has altered all of these various Alters

It is time to keep on multiplying out some of that gameplay for the upcoming title The Alters. All so we can get a feel for what 11 Bit Studios is going to have us doing while also exploring a bit of the Nature versus Nurture aspect of the world. This is the title coming to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC that will have us playing as alters of one main character. Only with each alternative Jan having a bit of a different upbringing during whatever cloning process that is going on. Odd but something that could lead to being useful as we need to get all of them off this weird planet and back to whatever safety and normalcy could be ahead. If they do not kill themselves first, that is.

Here we get a little more of the gameplay for The Alters that highlights some of that while still leaving so many questions unanswered too. Just the way we all like it when it comes to being teased for new video games, right? Only this one does feel like it is digging further into the Nature argument that crafts a being and not specifically the genes of them all. Each of these alters do have the exact same DNA and it feels like it is going to boil down to the different paths the brain has taken while they were being made and implanted with the memories. One could argue that means the DNA strands are not in the exact same location each time, but we will leave that for the game to try to explain and have us lose free will.

The Alters — New Gameplay

Jan Dolski is a simple worker who faces impossible odds. Crash-landing on a distant planet, stranded and alone, he seems trapped with no way out. Jan’s only hope for survival is to employ additional helping hands on board his mobile base… but how? Improvising as he goes, Jan uses the local Rapidium substance to create alternate versions of himself: The Alters.

Play The Alters Demo and see for yourself what it’s like to be Jan(s).

Are you getting more out of each of these alters than we should or is it still all wrapped in a cloak of mystery out there? Will each of the ways the game ends be from one of the different paths one took or will it be the same few options we normally get in video games instead? Will they dig into the free will side of things or will it be more of the neural pathways not being perfectly aligned each time that causes the shifts? Go down to the comments and change the course of the discussion there. We will keep on sharing what we can for The Alters as we press forward, so please keep on checking back for all of those updates and the many others still to come out there.
