Friday The 13th: The Game

Even though Friday The 13th: The Game cannot be given new content, that does not mean we will not see Friday The 13th make the jump to the Switch

Just when you may have thought you would not hear more about Friday The 13th: The Game, we have some new information to bring you about the game. Sadly, it is nothing in the way of Gun Media being able to get more and new content mixed into the game due to all of the legal issues that would involve. What we do have is word that Switch gamers will soon be able to join in the fun of Friday The 13th on their platform. You now have something extra to look forward to this coming Spring as that is the current window listed for its release. Let us just hope that it is not overpriced like all of those other games making the leap.

This version, called the Friday The 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition, will house the game and all of the DLC that has been released since its original launch. That would be both the paid and free DLC excluding the Kickstarter specific character the “Savini Jason”. It makes all kinds of sense, but is worth noting. Also worth noting is if you will be able to play Friday The 13th cross-platform, but I am going to go on a limb and think that will not be a feature even though the option is out there for the core engine. I just do not think it will be something the teams would be allowed to do as well.

Friday The 13th: The Game Coming To Nintendo Switch This Spring

The upcoming edition includes all released content and paid DLC, including every Jason Kill Pack, both Counselor Clothing Packs, and the Emote Party Pack. It does not the include Kickstarter backer exclusive “Savini Jason” character or the backer exclusive clothing pack.

“We’re happy to be bringing Friday The 13th: The Game to the Nintendo Switch with the help of our partners at Black Tower and Nighthawk. The Nintendo Switch offers a unique experience, in both social settings and on the go, that we feel work very well with Friday The 13th: The Game,” said Daniel Nixon, Gun Media’s Director of Communications.

“We can’t add any content, whatsoever. Nada. Not even a new tree or rock,” said Creative Director Wes Keltner at the time. “We can only focus on console-dedicated servers, bug fixes, and maintenance. I know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear and I wish the situation were different. But it’s the painful truth.”

Did you think you would hear any new updates on Friday The 13th: The Game after all of the craziness that went down with the legal side of things? Is this the kind of game you have been waiting for to come to the Switch or will it only grab the small few out there who did not have a chance on the other platforms? Do you think we could see a true cross-platform for the game mixed in at a later date or will this all be dead in the water after this release? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. Is there is more to share for Friday The 13th: The Game, we will share it here. Just be sure to keep checking in for all of that.
