Alone In The Dark
A new delay for Alone In The Dark is here with the devs for Alone In The Dark taking longer for a great reason
We have one more delay in the mix for the upcoming Alone In The Dark for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Not due to the fact that the game is not flowing out there well, but for good reasons for Pieces Interactive and not the normal bad things that normally get pushed. We will speak on that in a moment. But to get it out of the way, Alone In The Dark will no longer launch in January 2024, but will be dropping on March 20th, 2024. For all of the platforms we have had announced too. So, only a few more months of waiting with everything getting wrapped up perfectly well for it all. Now, let us talk about the reasons for it all.
I hope you have all of your basic rage out for the delay of Alone In The Dark now, as the reason for this delay was to make sure that the dev teams were not going to be rushed or overworked during the normal holiday season. All so they could, you know, spend it with their families and friends instead of working on a video game that gamers will try to attack no matter how good it is. THQ Nordic is behind this choice to so that the team does not need to be overworked or forced into crunch and can instead make sure that Alone In The Dark is the best version of itself at launch all while letting the artists be treated like real human beings out there. Good on them all around and a few months is nothing in the grand scheme of all of this. Here is what the official statement was for you to read.
The year is coming to an end, and the Christmas Holidays are upon us. However, until today, it didn’t seem that way for Pieces Interactive, the team developing our upcoming survival-horror game, Alone In The Dark. With our initially planned release date in January 2024, the Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time for them.
Therefore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have decided to give Alone In The Dark a new release date: March 20th, 2024.
The well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays. Furthermore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie as the main protagonists.
We understand that many people are eagerly awaiting the release, but your patience will be rewarded. We are thrilled to scare the living daylights out of you on March 20th, 2024!
Alone In The Dark — Looking For Jeremy
If you might not have gathered in everything I said before, I am all for these kinds of delays when it comes to video games and am glad I will be waiting for Alone In The Dark to come out later so they can all enjoy the season where many humans will be greedy pricks to each other. Before it was to make sure the game did not get dwarfed by all of the other massive titles coming out at the same time, thus the artist’s work would go unseen by many. Now it is for their own health and wellbeing. All of this indicates that they have faith in Alone In The Dark but also want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy the fruits of labor the same. If you have been overworked to get something out there, you are not going to be able to fully appreciate it all. I only wish they would have opted to go with more of the “ready when it is ready” mentality from the start instead of having to keep pushing it further and further. Then the audience would not have the expectation set and the artists would be able to never have to worry about any crunch.
Are you already up in arms that you will have to wait a little longer for Alone In The Dark or are you perfectly fine with this kind of delay? Do you think that more of the bigger companies and publishers should push for this or will you always demand your game in short order no matter who has to suffer? Did you even have the January date marked down or are you just getting upset because there is the word Delay written above? Head into the comment section to let us and the world know what you are thinking about all of this. We will share more for Alone In The Dark as soon as we get it all, so please keep on coming back to see and hear all of that. Fingers are crossed that this will be the last delay and the team is able to stay happy and healthy during it all.
