Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR

The gameplay overview for Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR offers up a new look at the game and how we will survive in this Assassin’s Creed title

Many have just wrapped up the previous installment into the Assassin’s Creed line of games and had their fun with it all. That was only part of the release cycle that Ubisoft had for the IP this year and November 16th still has another on the way. Another in the way of a PC VR title, sure, but another title nonetheless. One that we have been curious about how a few bits of the gameplay will function, and now we have some answers. Let us all dive into what Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is going to offer up to us beyond the expanded story for three different assassins from the IP’s past.

In this new update, we finally have the answer to how the team is going to handle the locomotion in Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR as well as the Parkour. The short answer is through various other methods we have seen in the past for those who still get VR sickness, but also through free movement for those who want to run, jump, and climb as we would when not in first-person mode. All of these actions use something that feels close to how it would function in the real world, just with the Assassin’s Creed flair added on. This does include the Leap of Faith, but there is a mode that will help those with a fear of heights still perform it in the game but not worry about setting off their acrophobia in the mix too.

For the combat side, it is about how we thought it would be in Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR. We will be wildly swinging our arms about to hit, dodge, and block all of the attacks in the mix. Maybe this will help focus the game back into the stealth side mode, but it does not seem it will be the only focus. It does look as if the team has tried to give us all of the same movements we have seen in the past Assassin’s Creed for the characters, though, and adding in the option to do the assassin whistle by holding up our hands, in the same way, is a nice touch. Have a look at the longer explanation of all of this in the following video we have to offer up to you for this.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR — Gameplay Overview

Our Creative Director walks you through all of the exciting gameplay features you’ll find in this groundbreaking Assassin’s Creed VR adventure.

Coming November 16, 2023, on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro.

All in all, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR does look as if it could be a solid entry into the mix and give us a new way to experience the IP. I am still a little iffy on how smooth the parkour and locomotion will function in the average gamer, but it looks smooth here. I do rather enjoy all of the other little bits added in to bring the characters further to life. I also know that I will have no fear in doing the Leap of Faith, but am very glad to see the option in there for others. I know a few Assassin’s Creed fans that would like to do this, but their real phobias would hinder that and the solution here looks like it could fix that. However, I am curious to see if it is on for all falling or just that of the Leap.

Are you further ready for this Assassin’s Creed title to drop or does this all make you want to shy away from it? Do you like the little touches in the mix here or will you still set them all to be button presses to keep from throwing your arms around as much? How many times do you think players will fall without the safety options before they just turn them on even without having the acrophobia in the mix? Take to the comments and discuss it all as you so wish to do. There is more for Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR to come, and we will have it all here. Please keep on checking in for all of that and everything else we have to offer up to the world at large.
