Mortal Kombat 1 Has More Of The NetherRealm Coming Out With Quan Chi

Mortal Kombat 1

The next DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1 is on the way with a tease toward what else is on the way to Mortal Kombat 1 soon

For those that have been looking for the next DLC character coming to Mortal Kombat 1, here we go with the announcement that will be Quan Chi. The necromantic sorcerer that has been a staple in the IP for a long while with NetherRealm Studios, and he is coming back to give us more to play with just before Christmas. Those that have the Early Access to the DLC out there, Quan Chi will be hitting Mortal Kombat 1 on December 14th on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. Everyone else will get a chance to add him in on December 21st. Along with a few other surprises to come along the way for it all too.

This version of the character looks like he will be tapping into the Netherrealm a bit more than in the past Mortal Kombat titles. At least, based on all of the tentacles that are coming through the portals that Quan Chi summons along the way. Not to mention the fact that it looks like Quan Chi will have a few other ways to trap and get around some of the moves of the other Mortal Kombat fighters. Even if it does feel like it might be something players will try to abuse in the online matches. You can see him in action just a little lower while also knowing that Khameleon will be hitting the Kameo system in January and it looks like Peacemaker will be the next character to join the fight.

Mortal Kombat 1 — Quan Chi Gameplay

The power of the NetherRealm Studios is at his fingertips. Beware his sorcery. Quan Chi arrives in Mortal Kombat 1 for Early Access on December 14, and Full Release on December 21. Khameleon joins the kameo roster in January.

It’s In Our Blood. Discover a reborn Mortal Kombat 1 Universe created by Fire God Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat 1 ushers in a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and Fatalities!

As I mentioned, it does look like we are getting a different kind of fighter with Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat 1 than we have with any of the others out there. Mostly due to the fact that they seem to be leaning into the magic more than sheer brute force. Not to mention that we are finally getting a version that feels like he can lock other fighters down for a short bit. Not only to get an advantage but to make the other player have to rethink their strategies more on the fly. It does look as if they can still do things while in the cages but just in that space. I do not think we have seen anything like this in any of the other Mortal Kombat titles, so it could be a rather big swing to make for the IP.

How are you feeling about Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat 1 and does it feel like he is bringing enough to shake things up out there? Will this get overused in matches or will it be balanced enough that players will not complain or be able to abuse it all? How do you feel about the other teases we have here and are these the characters you have been waiting to see join in the fights out there? Head down to the comments to discuss all of this and everything else we have for the game out there. We have more for Mortal Kombat 1 coming all the time, so make sure you keep coming back here to see and hear about all of it. Especially with the future DLC characters on the way.
