Shiftlings
Sierra is set to publish Shiftlings for its PS4, Xbox One, and PC release later this year. Also a new trailer
We all need more puzzle games and Shiftlings is now another title to get thrown into the mix for the PS4 and Xbox One. It was already greenlit on Steam but that wasn’t enough for Rock Pocket Games I guess as now they are having Sierra publish the title. It was announced back in 2013 and greenlit in 2014 so there is a nice progression to watch and good on them all for making a title that a rather well known publisher wants to call their own. Hopefully you know your history on all of this since we will not be going in too deep into all of that here.
So what is Shiftlings? Here’s what the official statement for the title is:

Set in an intergalactic reality show, Shiftlings is a quirky puzzle platformer about a pair of space custodians who travel the cosmos completing complex challenges. Shiftlings‘ special twist is that these two oddballs are linked by a single air hose, allowing them to pass gas back and forth between their space suits in an instant. This feature lets one character expand massively in size and weight, reducing mobility but providing clever ways to solve objectives and reach new terrain. The full adventure, crafted for both single-player and two-player local and online cooperative multiplayer, sees our intrepid janitorial heroes conquering over 50 levels spread across five unique worlds. |
I am still giggling that they said that they have to “pass gas” to each other. If I didn’t know better I’d swear Shiftlings was a lot dirtier than it really is. Or at least a lot more blue collar…
Shiftlings — Announce Trailer
Never mind. I just saw the Shiftlings trailer here and it is exactly the level of humor I was expecting. Not to mention it looks like it has quite a few interesting puzzles needing to be solved. I’m not completely sure how the whole reality show aspect works in for the story but that is just semantics at this point. If anything we will all find out here this spring when Shiftlings hits the PS4, Xbox One, and PC from Sierra. That being the big news we should have focused on. Hopefully you are giggling more than me. Let us all know below.
