South Park: Snow Day Shows Off How We Are Heading Into A Whole New Dimension

South Park: Snow Day

A new behind-the-scenes for South Park: Snow Day is out there to show off how South Park is coming further to 3D

Get bundled up and ready to head out with South Park: Snow Day, as it hits the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC today. After a good chunk of waiting, Question Games is ready to show off how they are bringing the 2D world into a 3D space and let us have all of that fun the IP is known for. At least in terms of the story and maybe in terms of the gameplay. THQ Nordic has been a little stingy on all of that leading up to the full release of South Park: Snow Day. Thankfully, we have a new little bit to take in and experience for those on the fence for the game or who are still waiting for it to download to their systems. Let us go behind the scenes one more time and see how all of the creators have brought this fun title to life.

So, we actually have two things to look at here for South Park: Snow Day for the launch of it all. The second video is the launch trailer and has a bit more of the story mixed in, so you can skip that if you want to go blind. The first video, though, takes us in to see how the game was made and how they opted to go with the 3D space. Not just a choice from the developers of the game but also something that Matt and Trey wanted too. Even if it did make animating the kid’s movement a bit rough given how they are animated in the show. This problem getting the solution of using the snow to cover up those faults while also using 2D animation for the scenes and characters that the team then turned into the 3D models. An interesting solution but it does leave it all feeling more like South Park and not anything like the 3D games in the past.

South Park: Snow Day — Launch Trailer

It should come as no surprise that I found the fact that Trey required the farts in South Park: Snow Day to be explosive and flammable in the game. Not just as a cool game mechanic but also to keep things “grounded” for the players. As grounded as they can be in the mix of all of this. I still have some doubts about how the gameplay is going to work for the game, but I hope those faults will be so small that the humor of South Park will help to hide all of that out there. From the story trailer we have above, it certainly looks like that is going to be the case and we are going to be seeing some fun references all the way up to some of the most recent things we have had in the show. Further keeping with the tradition and style of the show do always try to stay as relevant as possible. Even if it is all locked in now and could feel ‘off’ in the future plays of the game.

Are you ready to go back down to South Park and freeze a bit on the snow day? Do you like how they solved some of the 2D to 3D issues or do you think they should have gone with another 2D title that has worked so well in the past? Would it be interesting to see the team drop in DLC or patches to keep the game just as current as possible down the line? Head to the comment section and feel free to discuss all of this and much more. If we have more to share for South Park: Snow Day, it will be here on the site for you. We might also be looking to do some live game footage of the game in the near future, so please keep on checking back in for all of that and the many other things we have to share on the site. I have a feeling you are not going to be let down by any of it.
