You Can Now Get A New Virtual Job As Ghostbusters: Now Hiring Is Out

Ghostbusters: Now Hiring

A new Ghostbusters experience and game has surprisingly popped up as Ghostbusters: Now Hiring is now available for the PS VR system in episodic form

If you didn’t get enough of the franchise with the films, new and old, and recently crummy video game, then you are in for a treat as it looks like we now have Ghostbusters: Now Hiring out there to play. Seemingly out of nowhere this new VR experience for the PS4 has found its way out there and is currently available to download and play on the PS store. Without warning is always the best way to reveal and sale a game like Ghostbusters: Now Hiring right? Not really, but that is how it was done and now you can go out and give it a try. At least part of it for now as that will depend on how well this part does before we get to see more.

That all means that Ghostbusters: Now Hiring is an episodic VR adventure where we have the first episode and if it does well we will get more down the line. This of course seems like a weird way to do things again, but since they obviously have Patton Oswald and Chris Hemsworth’s voices in the trailer here I’m going to guess that they at least have some bigger plans even if the film franchise didn’t do so well here recently. None the less we can start our first day with the Ghostbusters and follow a long a story that looks to be set in the modern remake of the classic films. At least based on the voices.

The Ghostbusters need your help. Step into and explore the iconic Ghostbusters firehouse, where you’ll meet Mooglie for the first time. Plus, get up close and personal with everyone’s favorite troublemaker, Slimer!

Your adventure begins outside the firehouse in the streets of New York where Mooglie volunteers to be your guide. As you enter the firehouse, you’ll have the chance to explore Ecto-1, assemble and fire a proton pack, check out the basement where the Ghost Containment Unit lies, play with Slimer and much more! Don’t leave any stone unturned as ghostly surprises await your discovery.

What does look like a really good thing for Ghostbusters: Now Hiring is that Ivan Reitman is heavily involved in this narrative and design for the game/experience. One of the biggest things he added to it all was the addition of using the iconic Ghost logo as our guide in the game. This is also where Patton Oswald comes in as this is his character. While it doesn’t sound like a huge thing to most, it is worth noting that Reitman has enough input to drive a major gameplay design choice for Ghostbusters: Now Hiring so it looks like his hands are firmly in and hopefully in all of the other areas. Then maybe we can catch some magic like the 1984 film did.

How do you feel about Ghostbusters: Now Hiring getting a full release seemingly out of nowhere? Do you think this is just another way for Sony to milk the franchise or will this be an actual decent venture to rekindle it? Do you think that Reitman was used for more of the game’s magic or just some of the finer points and we will be left with an odd first episode and nothing more? Let us know your thoughts on this and more down in the comments and then discuss. For more on Ghostbusters: Now Hiring, if there is more, be sure to keep your eyes locked into the site here. We’ll do our best to make sure you get to see it all.
